Adora
I woke up and rubbed my eyes, brushing my hair away from my mouth. looked over at my clock, which read 7:27 A.M.
I sat up and stretched, my arms falling back down by my sides as I looked over and noticed Santiago wasn't in the bed.
l pursed my lips together as thoughts of last night rushed through my mind.
I quickly stood up and walked into the closet, grabbing a pair of leggings to slip into. I slipped a cardigan on over my tank top and brushed my fingers through my hair.
I snuck into the bathroom to hear the sound of running shower water, quietly closing the door. Thankfully Santiago's eyes were closed and there was water soaking his hair, so I had a few seconds to brush my teeth.
l quickly rushed back out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom, letting out a sigh as l plopped down on the bed. I unplugged my phone and walked out of the bedroom.
l walked down the long hallway and made it to the boys' doors. I knocked on both of them, a smile on my face. "You guys up?"
"Yeah, Adds!" They both yelled.
l began to walk away, but Jo's door shot open. "Hey, Adds."
"Hi, Jo," l greeted, smiling as l folded my arms over my chest.
"Mom is picking us up today," he said, "would you tell dad that?"
"I sure will," I said.
"Thanks." He wrapped his arms around my middle and hugged me, running back into his room to fix his hair.
l smiled and jogged downstairs. I walked into the living area and turned the fireplace on. I turned the TV on out of habit. Usually the boys would be downstairs by 7:30 every morning and would watch thirty minutes of TV before they had to leave for school.
I walked into the kitchen and began pulling out a few pans to cook breakfast in.
I reached inside the fridge after opening it and grabbed eggs and bacon. I decided to make omelets for everyone, since everyone ate them.
The boys rushed downstairs, in a competition as per usual.
"What do you guys want for breakfast?" I asked, "bacon,eggs-"
"Actually," Fred said' "mom is taking us out for breakfast! She's taking us to a restaurant."
I could see the excitement in their eyes and I just smiled. Even though I wasn't Alessandra's biggest fan, l loved seeing the boys get excited over time with her. She didn't have much time to invest in them anymore and it got under Santiago's skin more has anything.
"Well that sounds fun," I said, "can I have a hug before you guys go?"
They just grinned their boyish smiles and I giggled and wrapped my arms around them, making them laugh and try to push me off.
I heard someone clear their throat and my laughter died down as soon as I saw Alessandra standing in the doorway.
"Hi," I greeted, smiling as the boys grabbed their backpacks.
"Hey, she said, hitching her bag further up on her shoulder, "ready to go, guys?"
They smiled. "Bye, Adds!"
"Bye guys, I said, smiling.
"What's going on?"
I turned around and watched Santiago walk down the rest of the stairs, clipping his watch on his arm.
