Adora
"Mrs. King?"
I bolted up from the couch, rubbing my eyes. "I-I'm not Mrs. King."
"Mr. King's significant other, your relationship really isn't my concern," she said, furrowed brows as she wrote something down on her clipboard, "did you notice anything last night?"
"Come again?" I asked. It was quite early for a nurse to be interrogating me with questions.
"Did Mr. King make any obvious movement?" She asked.
"Oh, no," I said, "no, I stayed up until four, I just got to sleep."
"Sorry, your sleep schedule also isn't my concern," she said, "let me know if anything happens."
I stood up and stuck my hands in my back pockets. "Will do."
She shot me one last rude look before opening the door, walking out with a smug look on her face. I plopped back down on the uncomfortable couch, grabbing Santiago's hand.
"You know, the first thing to age on someone is usually their hands," I said, pulling his up to my mouth, "yours still look as youthful as a teenager's."
I pressed a kiss to the back of his hand and stood up, sighing. I knew these days that Santiago would be unconscious would be the longest days of my life.
I heard a knock on the door and I opened it, smiling as my eyes landed on Asad.
"Sorry I didn't stay last night," he said, rubbing the nape of his neck with his free hand, "I took Victoria home and-"
"No more details needed," I said, smiling.
He chuckled and pulled a coffee out of the cup holder he had in his hand. "I brought coffee and a bagel to make up for it."
I grabbed the coffee and bagel, smiling. "Thank you."
"Please try to eat," he said, "Santiago'd kill me if I let you go hungry."
I giggled and placed the bagel and coffee on the counter beside the door. "Hey, do you know when Alessandra and the boys are going to be here? I want the boys to be around when he wakes up-"
"He's probably not going to be up today," Asad truthfully admitted, walking into the hotel room.
"Wow, I forgot it was illegal to have hope in a hospital," I muttered, leaning against the edge of Santiago's bed.
"I want him to wake up as bad as you do," he said, "trust me, Toni is not that great at woman advice."
I couldn't help but to crack a smile.
"He'll be up soon," he said, "make a change, have some hope, lighten up this, um," he took a good look around the hospital room, "dungeon. Very fancy dungeon."
I nodded. "Thanks for calming me down in the slightest last night."
He nodded. "Luciana and Val are actually on their way here right now. You should go home for a bit, get some actual rest on an actual bed."
I shook my head as I looked back at Santiago. "No, I can't leave him."
He smiled. "Okay. Stay strong for him, got it?"
I nodded and watched as he walked out of the hospital room, sitting down beside Santiago.
"You have so many people that care so deeply about you," I whispered, raking my fingers through his hair.
I pursed my lips together and pressed a kiss to his forehead, patting his leg before getting some fresh air away from the hospital room that was filled with negativity.
