"I feel like I haven't been out of the house in weeks."
"Well, it's not totally untrue," Adora said, buckling her seatbelt, "you've been cooped up in your mansion for a solid week and a half."
I just looked over at her.
"With a great nurse, may I add," she said, smiling as she pulled out of the driveway.
"God, I hate having people drive me around," I said.
"Well, I can say I am better at riding, but I'm not that bad of a driver," she said, smiling over at me.
"We'll see," I said, looking down at the new watch she'd gotten me for my birthday.
"So, what kind of car are you wanting?" She asked, drumming her fingers against the steering wheel.
"I want a Jaguar," I said, "why are you talking to me like I'm your son?"
She giggled, tucking a chunk of hair behind her ear. "I don't mean to, promise."
I just smiled, grabbing her hand. I pressed a kiss to the back of it and she smiled.
"I also have a really big surprise for you," I said.
"Oh yeah?" She asked, "if it's not as big as sex, I don't want it."
I just chuckled. "I think it might be bigger."
"I somehow doubt that," she said, smiling as she raised her eyebrows.
"Promise, you won't be disappointed."
She stopped at the red light and reached over, touching my cheekbone. "It's still bruised. It's cute, though."
She shot me a charming smile and I couldn't help but to realize how lucky I was.
This woman I'd met when she was seventeen, had absolutely nothing for her, and now, seven years later, I was absolutely smitten for her.
Absolutely smitten to the point that I did in fact want to spend the rest of my life with her, in whatever way possible.
"I love you," I said, nodding over at her.
She smiled, leaning over the console. "I love you, too."
She pressed a kiss to my cheek and leaned back over, smiling over at me.
"I hope you're getting a newer Jag," she said.
"It was just so crazy, I'd had that car for so long," I said, leaning my head back against the headrest.
"I'm sure you'll find a new one. With Toni's help, may I add."
"God, you invited him to this?" I asked, looking over at her.
"God, you don't know?" She giggled out, looking over at me.
"Know what?" I asked.
"Toni works for the dealership," she said, a giggle escaping her again.
"No he doesn't," I said, a confused smile on my face, "he relies on his sugar mamas for income."
"Well, he must've lost them all," she said, a contagious laugh making it out of her mouth yet again.
"We're talking about the same Toni, right?" I asked, still confused.
"Promise," she said, "we're talking about the same Toni. Maybe he wanted it to be a surprise to you, I don't know."
"No, Toni is not helping me pick out a car and it won't be on my record that he did."
She just laughed and threw her head back. "I'm afraid it will be, Mr. King."
