a/n oky so sorry i'm late and this will be probably really quick and crappy but whatever.
it was the day of the reaping (been awhile since i've read it i believe it's what it's called) and i head to the court yard. i run into gale carrying a dead rabbit. "seems like your planning on trading with the peace keepers. just be careful though today is the hardest day to trade." i warn.
"i know good luck in the reaping." he says and i head to get my finger pricked and wait.
effie grabs a note from the bowl full of the girls in the district "PRIMROSE EVERDEEN" i stay silent shocked. prim is 12 how the hell did she get picked. as we do the salute to mourn her inevitable death when katniss runs out.
"I VOLUNTEER! I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!" she yells and hugs prim before going up to the podium.
effie grabs the boys name and clearly states "PEETA MELLARK" and we all turn to look at him. the boy with the bread, the baker's son. he walks up and katniss and him shake hands.
after people begin dispersing i walk to gale and hug him. "i'm so sorry i know how close you are to katniss." i say softly.
he hugs back nodding, i can tell he's concerned but he does have faith in her. i do to she is one of the best hunters i know other then gale.
timeskip
we were watching the fighters killing and i catch a glimpse of katniss pointing her out to gale. "she's going to win i just know it." i say. gale nods a faint smile on his face. i hold his hand as we watch the games progress. by the end katniss and peeta are by the cornucopia with the nightlock berries. "they won't do it.....will they" i ask to no one in particular. the announcer comes on stopping them.
"you both can win" he says and gale and i cheer.
i hug hm tightly. "she won she's coming back!" i say and from my excitement i kiss gale on the lips. i quickkly pull away in realization of my actions.
"y/n?" gale questions.
"sorry" i say quickly "i just was so happy and i didn't think and i-" i begin my explanaition and start to ramble.
"y/n it's okay. i understand you're a very spunky girl and i appreciate you for that" he says and kisses me gently. i melt into the kiss smiling brightly.
sorry it's so sh*tty i just got no clue and rushed this in the morning sorry but hope you enjoyed anyway.
