Jay x Mute! Reader Ninjago

I was hanging around at the park and saw the ninja hanging around there and blush slightly. When i was a kid i would see jay working on his inventions and we told jokes, once he became a ninja we never did that again. During that time i had formed a small crush on him, he would never notice anyways though.

He looks my way and wave heading over with the others. I freak out internally, what do i do? What should i say?

"Hey there, what's your name? You look familiar." he says and i smile.

I wave and sign 'y/n'. Most people don't know sign language so i hope he remembers some.

He didn't "huh?" he asked his eyebrows furrowing slightly.

"It appears she is a mute and unable to speak, her name is y/n." zane the white ninja or ninja of ice says and i nod.

"y/n?!?" jay asks in disbelief.

"The girl jay wouldn't shut up about when he first became a ninja?" cole asks and i blush more.

"Yeah yeah it's been forever." he replies hugging me. I hug back and smile. We part from the hug and he asks "how have you been!?!"

I give him a thumbs up to simplify good and he smiles.

"That's awesome. We need to catch up how about we go to the garage?" i nod and sign 'sounds great' he nods and heads there. The ninja and i follow. The garage is where our dads work and me on occasion.

Jay waves "hey dad hey d/n"

The wave back, "jay it's been forever." my dad says and jays agree.

a/n i forgot jay's dad's name oops.

They smiled at me and we head over to the car i was working on currently and grab some tools.

"Mind if i help?"jay asks me and i shake my head.

I sign 'if you want not that interesting though, just some banged up car' he nods. Clearly he didn't know what i said. I giggle slightly and nya shoos the other ninja away leaving as well as jay and i worked.

As we worked jay talked and i listened, how i wish i could speak but nope. At times he asked a question and looked at me for a response. Usually yes or no questions or good or bad questions.

"Thank you so much, i've missed you y/n." he says as we finish for the day.

'I missed you too' i signed to him and he smiles kissing my cheek lightly leaving my with a dark wine red blush. We hugged.

"Wanna come to the ship with me and we watch a movie?" he asks.

'Can we go to my place?'

"Uhm yes?" he replies but more so questions. I simplify by pointing to my house and shrugging and he gets it. "Yeah we can."

We head over and choose to watch 'Nerve'. I giggle at some parts and jump up pointing at the screen when soap comes on.

Jay chuckles and nods "i remember that song. You played it 1,000 times when you were in the melanie martinez phase." i giggle and blush more. We cuddle and continue watching the movie as jay held me in his arms.

I fell asleep and felt jay place a small kiss on my forehead and fall asleep holding me. I hear him whisper so faintly "i love you y/n and i always will." I try to mumble but can't, duh.

In the morning i wake up and yawn. "Morning beautiful." jay says.

i sign morning and mouth it but something made me jump. I whispered with a voice crack i think "morning" jay shocked like me held me.

"D-did you just talk?" he asks and my dad comes out.

I nod shakily and mouth but whispers again "i think so"

My dad comes over and grabs my baby book and explains i was mute from a curse, true love would stop and reverse it and jay and i smiled.

We hugged and i cried along with jay as my dad smiled. This may take some time getting used to.
