sorry but to make it.....more normal I suppose you're 12 or 13 whichever you prefer

I was sitting on a bench in the rain listening to the beautiful pitter patter of the water falling and hitting the sidewalk. I listened silently staring, it was mid summer and raining semi-softly. it wasn't pouring but still not sprinkling. I see many couples walking around laughing on first dates. their were families on outings laughing with eachother.

something I will never have. I am nothing but ugly and forever alone. currently i'm getting soaked since I have no umbrella, poncho, or raincoat. suddenly I feel the rain stop dripping onto my head. I look up seeing an umbrella over my head a short boy around my age holding it.

"hello?" I ask confused. I recognize him but I can't remember where from. he's obviously someone of importance but why. I ponder over this.

"what are you doing in the rain? shouldn't you be inside." he asks seemingly annoyed.

"I didn't want to stay there." I respond looking back into the street.

"Stay where. look at you your soaked. you'll get sick in this weather." he says. his voice is angry but soft. it's odd.

"what's it to you?" I ask.

he growls softly. "you're too skinny, obviously underweight. when was the last time you got to sleep. you're obviously not getting enough food, or sleep, to much stress as well." he continues listing off obvious problems. I look away annoyed.

"what's it to you!?" I ask again slightly harsher.

a tall man walks up to us. "young lord who is this?" he asks politely. his voice is dark yet also sweet.

"oh yes, who are you miss?" he asks.

I roll my eyes standing and ducking to not hit my head on his umbrella. "y/n, y/n l/n." I respond.

"well miss l/n you're coming to my home for the night." the young man says.

I stare confused. "no" I respond.

he did not enjoy my answer. "what do you mean no?!" he nearly yells angry.

"I mean i'm not coming to your house. i'm fine in the rain I just couldn't stay at my....house any longer."

he growls. "just come for a bit and have tea and dry off. so you don't get sick." he says his voice daring me to say no. I sigh. he won't let me decline.

"fine, I suppose that won't hurt." I say softly.

"sebastion come on let's go. come miss" he says. though being the obviously younger one he seems in charge. sebastion nods smiling slightly as he walks us to a covered carriage holding the door open for him and i.

I get in silent and semi-tense. "i'm ciel, ciel phantomhive."

"funtom that's where I've seen you. I've also seen you in the paper I believe." I say thinking aloud.

"yes I am the owner of the funtom company" he informs me. im shocked.

"how old are you? you cant be and adult already? pardon for the rudeness but you only seem 12 tops." I exclaim.

"my looks don't deceive you then. yes I am 12. and you?" he questions as the carriage moves along through the wet roads.

"12/13" I reply.

he begins speaking of his life before the fire I saw in the paper.  his voice is soft and sad but I can tell he hasn't let his past affect how he acts. he's strong mentally.

the door opens. "my lord we're here." sebastion says. he helps me and ciel out and we walk up and into the giant phantomhive mansion. "i'll make some tea for you two" sebastion says again before leaving.

"tell me about yourself" ciel said, "I've told my story but I haven't a clue about yours." he says.

I take a deep breath...should I trust him? I mean he's told me so much, so much personal stuff. I suppose it should be okay. I mean he already knows that something is wrong with my family life. "well my family isn't the most normal. my father is a drug addict my mother always stressed. fights occur often. my younger brother, he was 3, died at the hands of a fight. he tried telling them to stop, that the yelling was frightening us and my father.....well he took things out of control and I fled. it's the only place i got so I go back each night but I stay away from there as much as I can." I explain. I leave out the heartaches from whom I thought were friends. people I could trust ripping my heart out and tearing it apart.

"I see." he says softly as the tea comes. I take a sip of the earl grey and hold the cup feeling the warmth transfer from the ceramic glass to my hands. "stay here. we have plenty of room." he says.

I look up shocked. "oh I couldn't I barely know you." I explain.

"you won't ever know me if you don't hang around me. if you feel bad about it you can get a job as well...or work here. I wouldn't mind replacing some of the others or just giving them extra help. trust me it would be much safer and better for you to stay here." he continues.

can I risk another heartbreak? I stay silent thinking. is he sincere....he does have the space that bit is evident but...is it worth the possible pain? "I don't know." I say softly staring into my mug my reflection tinted golden copper staring back distorted from the liquid.

"a week then. then you decide but start off staying for a week." he says definitively. I nod silent. I think a week will be fine.

and so I stayed for a week. I helped around the mansion and I helped ciel with knowing what little kids like. what animals to make toys and what not. I hum along while helping bard with the cooking and with staying patient. he was never good at that but I don't blame him.

I help mey-rin stay stable when she's putting glass away in tall cupboards. I also help finny with the gardening. after the week was over it was definite I was staying. I had stopped being so jumpy and I was getting actual sleep. I did always jump or flinch whenever yelling began but I began easing out of it. fights rarely happened and when they did they were quick before being resolved.

I was in ciel's study looking over some of his paperwork on ideas for new ideas. I could tell they would be a hit with everyone instantly. it makes me so happy that i'm no longer forced to continue going back to the run down, dirty house that was continently smelling and loud. "thank you ciel." I say.

he looks up for a moment and I see a faint smile before he stops looking back down "of course y/n I couldn't let someone like you stay alone in the rain." he replies.
