Chapter Nine: Villains

One by one I watched as villains exited the purple rift. My classmates were chattering excitedly about an excercise while I kept my distance, Todoroki stayed behind me, he was probably a little wary too but he wasn't my priority right now.

"Stand back! Those are real villains." And there was my confirmation. Immediately, Aizawa sensei jumped down to help. He called back for thirteen to get us out, a few villains threatening to slip past him. I stepped beside my teacher who was leading the class and pushed him back slightly, my foot in front of the two of us as a wall of fire formed, blockading us from the rest of the villains.

"Thank you Mr Kasamai, class let us go-!" Thirteen was cut off, a familiar purple crack forming right behind us as we turned around. "Ah, my apologies, but we were informed that All Might would be teaching a class here today at this time. Might I enquire why he is absent?" A villain. Before I could see stop the explosive blonde from lunging at what was clearly a villain with a warping quirk, he jumped at him, palms crackling. "Enquire this!" I slapped a hand over my forehead so loudly, I couldn't tell if the large smack came from Bakugou's explosive quirk or my hand impacting my head.

I pulled him back before he could touch the wavering black mass, the force needed to send him back throwing me into the warp instead. "Don't fight him! Run!" I sent a grin, as black entered my peripheral. "I got him-!" Before I could finish, I felt a hand grab mine.

The next thing I felt was a mixture of hard stone and sludge. I tried to race to my feet when I noticed the heavy body on mine.

'Red and white, Todoroki. So I wasn't imagining it.' The boy got off me, his face giving his silent apology. Taking his hand, I got onto my feet and glanced around. "Landslide zone, so we weren't warped far." The boy nodded.

I stepped forward to survey my surroundings and I felt the world around me spin. 'Crap, I'm really getting sick-' I narrowly dodged the incoming blow. I kicked the attacker's leg only to shatter ice into his flesh. His holler of pain went unregistered by me as I noticed the frozen liquid covering the man. He was frozen. The bar that hung just inches from my face was covered in ice crystals that moved down the bar to encase the villain in ice. "Are you okay?" I nodded, standing back upright.

"Hey lookie here! If it isn't two little students~" a raspy voice cooed mockingly. The two of us turned to face the group of villains approaching us. "This'll be easy, taking out two puny students!" Another villain with a mutation quirk exclaimed.

I could hear Todoroki stifle a scoff while I couldn't be bothered and simply chuckled. "What are you laughing at boy- GWAAAGHHH!!!" In a matter of moments, both me and Todoroki had entraped the villains in ice.

"If you came here searching for All Might, what did you think you would accomplish?" Todoroki asked quietly, voice low. "Had you hoped to kill him? In that case you must have a trick up your sleeves, what is it?" He walked towards the supposed leader of the gang who was covered up to the neck in ice. "You might wanna answer soon, or the ice will cause every one of your cells to slowly freeze, causing a rather painful death. As a future hero I would like to avoid such ugly methods."

The man trembled rather harshly so I decided to have a little fun. "C'mon~ spit it out~ Because unlike stiffy over here, I happen to enjoy inflicting pain on others~" I put the blade of my glove to his throat, lightly digging it into his stubbly neck and his eyes went wide but he still needed another push. "If not for you then for your teammates? If you low class villains even have a sense of comeradery that is~"

With a snap, I set the ice alight, blue flames licking up the insides of the crystals as they stayed mostly intact,  singeing and charring skin and hair. Bloodcurdling screams of pain and horror seemed to snap him and he blurted out everything.

"Thank you~"  I snapped my fingers again and the mirage was gone, there were his team mates entirely fine. I snickered at the look of disbelief that turned into dread at his realization that it had all been an illusion.

For good measure, I encased the group in branches as Todoroki unfroze and knocked out each villain one by one.

"So, a mutant as strong as All Might huh?" I asked as we finished off the last person. "This will be pretty troublesome." I hummed, nodding in agreement. "How did you do it?"

I looked at him in a silent request for an elaboration. "The fake fire." 'Of course, god this fever is making me slow.' "Oh, right. Its just light reflecting off water vapour in the air in a flame shape. Really it only needs my water quirk to position the water molecules a certain way." I made a small demo fire in my palm, the same glistening blue flame. "Tadah~ one of the most basic tricks in the book of illusions~" I grinned up at him. "C'mon, we should go find the others."

As we continued back to the rest of the class, we saw the sight of a wounded All Might above some weird bird like creature with its brains out.

Its fingers were digging into All Might's sides, drawing blood. Todoroki freezed its arms, allowing the Number One superhero to free himself.

What happened next was a blur. All Might ended up defeating the creature by the name of 'Nomu'.

I stood alongside Bakugou and Todoroki as we backed up All Might. The man with a dissolving quirk and an amputated hand on his face seemed troubled. He ended up backing down, the purple mist man by his side.

Wanting to stop this, Midoriya attempted to rush at them. Sighing at his rash yet predictable nature, I slipped between him and the man's hand at the last second, the blue haired villain's hand grazing my arm, doing exactly as I predicted and drawing blood, allowing me to raise a wall of tall flames between him and the Villains. "Midoriya, calm down, you're not being rational." I warned moving us both a safe distance away before dropping the wall of fire. The fabric if my jacket fell away, the skin underneath it raw and cracked.

I lit my palms, aiming at the man. "You were at the breach of U.A. weren't you? I saw you." The man cackled unervingly. "You're just like your mother, always acting as though you've had everything planned the way you wanted. As though we're all your pawns in a chess set." My mother? What...what was her name again? I, don't know? 

"Aah~ You don't know? Your mother! Now that I think about it, you and that infuriating woman do look rather similar." And with that he vanished.
