"How long until you we're going to tell me?" I huffed, "or were you never going to?"
Dabi looked conflicted, he clenched his teeth, appearing to calm himself but the words he said next still came out as more of a snarl. "That boy is dead. Abandoned by his worthless excuse of a father." His eyes never held such malice.
"Hey join the club, a pity I'm more in Shouto's shoes though. I'd love to leave my father behind." I chose my words carefully, pushing as many buttons as I could. I had no idea how he felt towards Shouto as the object of most of his father's affection.
"You think your clever?" He gave a cruel grin. I sigh and nod my head in defeat. "Just needa know" I glance up at him "so I'll ask properly,"
"Will you be a threat to Shouto Todoroki?"

A few weeks later I headed to UA. Thoughts that plagued me for the past weeks buzzed through my mind as I pulled my jacket closer to me. It made no sense, it was basically still summer but a strange chill rattled my bones.
It was the final day of our end of term exams and I could only guess what we'd have to do. I shook my head and looked upwards, staring at the large UA sign. I passed the gates, my head down, not another glance towards the sign.
____________We gathered in another one of UA's large battle arenas in our suits. I'd made a few adjustments to mine, mainly adding some temperature regulators into the jacket to prevent overheating.
I tugged at my clothes in a daze, only looking up when I heard a piece of rather shocking news. "You will be facing off against your teachers." I stare at Aizawa for a while before a grin overtakes my face. A challenge, one that'd push me to my limits, that would prove to my dad- to myself that I had what it takes.
"As it has been brought to my attention that we have an odd number of students. While we could allow teams of three this wouldnt be UA if we were simply so lenient. As such we wil be having a one on one fight between a student and pro-hero." My heart stops. A pro-hero. Not a teacher. Someone who'd be willing to take on a student in this class. Willing to beat down a student with no mercy.
"Elemental has requested for-" I raise my voice "I got it." The class turned to me and Aizawa gave me a grim nod.
So the tests began.
Before I boarded the bus to my location, Todoroki came up to me. "Will you be okay? To go this far for an exam-" I cut him off. "Nothing new, don't worry about me, focus on how you're gonna defeat Aizawa Sensei." I gave a smile to ease him and force some semblance of calm back in me.
He nods hesitantly and jogs off. Then I lock eyes with Bakugou. He glances at me and seems to mouth 'kick his ass'. Well that gave me a bit of relief I guess.
That was until the counter was ticking down from 5 and Tougou was nowhere in sight.
A buzzer and my legs flashed into motion. As it was I stood no chance, all I could do was get out of there and-
Pain crashed into my side.
I felt the sickening tension between my skull and the concrete, leaving me praying for a split second the floor would break before my head did. The ground fractured into pieces as my left rib followed in line.
An unrelenting knee dug in my back, compressing every nerve as my lungs were thrown out.
I had to get up, get away.
Heat, a lot of it would make him weaken. Even if he expected it, all I needed was a flinch, one window.
My veins throbbed, good churning as it boiled. More, I needed more.
Hotter, more, burn.
BURN
A shuffle, my chance!
I shattered the ground and dug myself out.
Fires lit alight beneath my hands, propelling me to the gates.
I had to get out.
But he was faster.
He appeared in front of me, eyes burning like the fire in his hands.
I narrowly avoided the burning spheres thrown my way and wrapped my hand around the fist that aimed for my gut.
Cold, freeze.
Fall.
The gates are in view now move!
My collar gagged me as he lifted me up by my top.
His knuckles tightened against my throat and I clawed at his hands. I could hear the PA system crackle as the announcement to end the match was about to be aired.
No.
With all the energy I could muster I dug my nails into his wrist, as soon as I drew blood, ice attacked his veins.
He could handle heat as well as I could but the cold? Not a chance!
"Let me finish this!" I screamed, voice almost unrecognizable as my vocal chords relaxed from being compressed.
I needed him off my back.
He grabbed his wrists, palms glowing orange as he tried to melt the ice. I couldn't let him.
Time to give the old man a hug.
I grabbed him into a bear hold, bearing with the punch he dug into my gut in the process.
I dug my fingers into his back, feeling the cold seep from my fingertips.
Faster, I needed him to freeze.
He could feel it now, his fists contacting my back like a drummer on steroids. My spine gave out about five times but my arms didn't.
His movements began to slow down.
The ice was reaching his heart.
It would be so easy to freeze it solid.
End him now.
But I couldn't.
My legs buckled, sending us both crashing to the floor.
I dragged myself along the floor, I needed to pass the gates.
Grime stained my hands as iron filled my mouth.
Slowly I crawled to the gates.
Then my shoulder passed the line. The buzzer sounded, I did it.
I did... it.
I felt my head hit the dirt and I was out.
