labyrinth: a short story
I remember the day, a beautiful day it was. I came across this lonely boy, sitting on the ground near a pond. He looked like he was in his own little world. I crouched down near him, he then looked at me.
"Uh, what are you doing." He asked, he looked shocked, surprised I may add.
"Trying to figure out the labyrinth. Would you like to join me? My name is Shusi Manitou." I said extending my hand for him to shake it. He took it and I smiled.
"I'm Uyko Niti. How are we going to figure out the labyrinth? Where is it?" He replied looking around. I laughed, he didn't know that we were in the labyrinth and the only way out, was together.
I got up and stared down at him, I always wondered what it meant to have a friend. Someone who would stick by your side until the very end. Ukyo stared back up at me. I held out my hand and then I gave the best smile I could create.
"Let's get out of here." I said. I remember those words. That moment I had with Ukyo, the moments we had together when we traveled. We did many things, we saw extraordinary things and people.
I wish I could relive those days. The days when I ran the world with Ukyo. He barely said my name. He noticed I rarely used his. When we were in trouble I yelled his name. The words burned in my throat. It made me want to say his name more.
One day, we were in deep trouble, and everything happened so quick. Ukyo saved me and it cost him his life. He got out of the labyrinth before I could. Now I stand alone, once again. Remembering what I once had, but never want to have again.
Nothing will replace Ukyo, I'll say his name over again and again. Until, I see him once more...until I get out of the labyrinth.
"Hey! You, yeah you!" A voice said. I looked down, a short girl stared up at me. She had a smirk on her face.
"What?" I replied. This felt familiar, in fact...too familiar.
"Today is your lucky day boy, I'm going to take you on an adventure. My name is Hinami Rui." She said holding out her hand. I gently grabbed her hand and shook it.
"My name is Shusi Manitou. Where are we going?" I asked. Hinami's eyes light up with joy. She then reminded me of myself, when I first met Ukyo.
"That's for me to know and for you to never find out. Until we get to our destination, of course." She said pulling me in a direction. I followed her because I wanted to know where this girl would take me. I think I understand why Ukyo followed me...the curiosity that forms in people slowly kills them on the inside.
"Hinami, you know what a labyrinth is?" I asked...
