"Do you want your apple?" Mason asked stuffing his face with a brownie. We were all surrounding a bench outside. It was lunch time at school and things had just subsided pertaining to Chasely and me.
"Yes, actually," I replied snatching my apple from my plate before he could. We were sitting outside underneath a tree not far from the school.
I turned my head to the side and saw Maddie approching our table.
"Hey!" I greeted as she sat down. She never sat with us before but I was ready to welcome her. I got over the fact that she was just trying to be nice to me because of Zayden. Mason and Lena waved to her.
"What's up?" She asked opening up her salad.
"Nothing," Mason answered. He was sitting on top of the table while Maddie took a seat next to him.Mason shifted awkwardly back andMe and Lena looked at eachother in confusion.
"So Iani, when should we finish up our project?" She perked up noticing the peculiar silence.
In my motion of turning to her I saw Chasley make her way outside. She had like millions of bandages on her nose. I scoffed as she walked past our table. She glared at me and held her nose. I wasn't even sorry
"Jesus, Iani. You broke her nose. Now I know not to get on your bad side," Maddie laughed and so did the rest of us.
"Well yeah that's what you get for being narcissistic, egotistical, raging brat," I said rolling my eyes as I watched her walk off.
"But anyway, how bout Mason's house? It's always empty," I suggested turning to Mason.
"Uh sure, yeah you guys can use it. I'll just take Maya to the park or something," Mason answered quickly.
"Maya...your girlfriend?" Maddie asked raising an eyebrow.
Mason cleared his throat before answering.
"No, my little sister," he chuckled. His face turned bright red.
What the hell?
"Oh, sorry. I just assumed," Maddie nodded and continued to eat. Lena and I eyed eachother again.
"No it's fine. You guys can stay," I chimed. I didn't want to throw Mason and his sister out of their house.
"Ok, if that's fine with you," Mason asked turning to Maddie.
"Mmhmm." Maddie gave him a small smile as she nodded. I rolled my eyes at the thought that came to my mind about what was going on here.
*******
We finished our lunch and headed back inside the school. The rest of the day was boring. 2 hour classes always brought out the worst in me.
After the final bell I caught up with Maddie and gave her a ride to Mason's house.
I reached under the welcome mat and grabbed the spare key to open the door. Mason had to run some errands so he wasn't here to open the door for us. I set my things down in the living room.
"Are you hungry?" I asked Maddie as I raded the fridge. She chuckled.
"No. But do you always raid his fridge when he isn't home?" She said laughing alittle harder.
"Yup," I replied.
"Seems like you guys are pretty close," Maddie concluded taking a seat on the couch.
"Yeah we are," I said not facing her but making a couple sandwiches.
Just then I heard a vehicle pull up outside. I ran to the door before opening it.
