Chapter 6: Feb 6
I walked into school, and the first thing I hear from behind me is "Did you hear that Sheldon was seen with Michaela at the rink last night? I didn't think it'd happen, honestly."
"He's so emo, but she's so bright. Literally! They're complete opposites," Someone said, voices lowering to a whisper as I passed by. Also, first of all, that's not completely true.
"Are you serious? I think they're actually good for each other. They say opposites attract, don't they?"
"Nah, I mean, come on. Don't you remember primary school, how he used to make fun of her with his friends?"
I stopped listening at that point as shivers ran down my spine. It was true, though. He and his friends, Marcus, Adam and another boy, who I forgot the name of, used to make fun of me in class, running away like I was the plague, mocking me, and his friends used to yell at me, saying he liked me. I never believed them, of course. It's hard to, these days. I just don't think that I'm capable of being loved by a guy, or anyone, when so many of them seem to have this hatred for me.
I walked past Livia and Kat, while Kat had his arm around her neck. I'm so happy that Livia can feel comfortable with Kat around me.
"Liv, did you or Kat tell anyone about my date last night?" I asked.
"I would never, you know that. People are being shit," She said.
"Okay, well someone did. Anyway, I'm going to go grab the folders, I'll see you Period 3, have you got your costume?"
"Yep, I'll see you then!"
I got the folders and walked back out.
Walking into Care Group, I noticed most of the kids (majority were in year 9) staring at me. I stopped at Mr. Small's desk.
"If you could all stop staring at me, that would be great," I said unenthusiastically, dropping Mr Small's folder on his desk. Everyone went back to their conversations, and I swear I heard my name a few times.
"It's just so weird. How could a guy like Sheldon like her?"
"I literally saw them holding hands last night. They actually looked like they were enjoying themselves. He must be a really good actor." The last sentence hit me hard. Maybe he was just acting. It's all a prank or something, Marcus and Adam are in on it, too. They all want to see how long he can fool me.
God, no, why would he do that?
Would he?
Nah, he wouldn't. Let's just see what happens.
I made my way to science, minding my own business "Hey. How did you get him to go out with you?" I was asked as the dickhead kid behind me tapped my shoulder.
"He asked me out. Can you piss off, Daniel?"
"Alright, alright. Stop being a bitch," He put his hands up defensively and moved away. I took my seat at the front of the class as usual. We turned in our homework and started the next section of of the topic. It was about a page long with another set of questions which took up a page and a half. Those questions were set as homework.
Period 2 was math. Instead of modules this lesson, Mr. Small had us do a 'Rich Task'. I don't really have any idea what it is except for actual worksheets with the scheduled topic teachers are meant to be doing right now. We were doing something on Algebra. They were different equations set on the work sheet and if we didn't finish them, they were homework. Luckily, I finished just before the bell went. Half of them were probably wrong because I'm shit at math, but what can you do?
