Chapter 9: Feb 9
The nurses brought in some breakfast, and Livia called me to say she was coming in before lunch.
I waited, texted Sheldon, and told him that I was in hospital.
Livia arrived, and we chatted for a while before a couple of nurses came in. "Good news. You won't need the operation. It should heal by itself over a few weeks and you'll be better than ever," one informed me.
"Oh, cool. Do I get to go home then?" I asked.
"Not quite yet. We need to make sure you don't accidentally make it worse. Plus, we can monitor them for a bit longer. We'll give you some painkillers to help numb the pain, but that's about all we can do at this point."
"Okay. When do I get to go home?"
"Maybe later today, or tomorrow morning. We'll see how you go!"
--
Whatever painkillers they had given me, my brain obviously didn't like them. Livia had told me some stuff I'd said, and a lot of it, I regret. She then had to refrain from starting conversation with me before I said anything else I shouldn't.
The meds had started to wear off and I was coming to my senses again. Just at the right time too, since Sheldon, plus my brother, had entered the room.
"Hey, are you feeling alright after yesterday?" Shannon asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine now, hurts now since the drugs wore off, but overall I think I'm pretty good," I said, coming to a realisation. "Wait. Have... you guys all skipped out on school to come see me?"
"Yep. Except for Kat. He's got a test he couldn't miss apparently," Livia nodded.
"Geez... I didn't know I was that important..."
"Of course you are! God, any day that you are not at school, I feel like I would lose my mind," Livia exaggerated.
"Heh. Anyways, uh, Mum grounded me for starting that fight with Bonnie."
"What?"
"I can't go out for the next two weeks."
"Aww, damnit," Livia muttered.
I noticed Sheldon was loudly cursing everything. "¿Por qué?" Why?
"Guys, can you go outside for a bit? I just want to talk to Michaela privately," Sheldon said.
"Sure, we'll leave you two alone," Livia winked at me and disappeared. Everyone except Sheldon and the doctor who was running tests left my room.
"It sucks that you were grounded... I was hoping to take you out again."
"Yeah, Mum's a bitch sometimes."
"You know it's not your fault though, people are just shit."
"But I'm the one who punched her, I'm the one who started the fight, I got myself into hospital because I couldn't keep my shit together."
"Bonnie also decided to continue the fight, and from what I've heard, she's been suspended for a week."
"At least I don't have to deal with her for a week then."
He chuckled, "Yeah."
I sat up as best I can, brushing off the stabbing pain. He held my hand.
Then he hugged me. I hugged back, but I was blushing again. I have no experience in almost having a boyfriend. It was kinda awkward. Also slightly painful. I could barely breathe without hurting myself, but I somehow managed to hide my pain.
--
Livia and Shannon came back in, we talked for a bit longer, then visiting hours finished. The doctor said I'd be able to leave tomorrow morning.
All good then, I guess?
