"Stop!" I cried, continuing my advance down the stairs, I stood in front of Jaime with my arms and legs spread out.

The man slapped me but I stood my ground.

"Who do you think you are?" He barked.

"A better person then you," Jaime replied for me, and I looked at him. Blood dripped from his chin and his clothes were soaked.

"Why'd you hit him?" I asked, my eyes tearing as. Looked back at him.

"Why? You want me to hit you too?"

"Answer me!" I said.

The man slapped me again and a formation of flood formed in my mouth. I spit it in his face knowing it was like poking a bear with a stick.

"How dare you?" He roared, spit flying everywhere.

"No!" I cried. "How dare you hurt your own flesh and blood, monster!"

"You little-" He cussed loudly, grabbing me by the collar of my shirt and making me look him in the eye.

He gave a creepy smile. "Aren't you the little doll?"

"No, I'm real,"

"Well dolly, I'm sure you'll grow up to be a fine woman,"

"Unlike you or your wife," Jaime mumbled, coughing.

The man dropped me onto the floor and turned around, sitting on the couch.

"Jaime," he said. "Go make me some coffee,"

Jaime looked up grinding his teeth.

"Girl, come over here," he ordered.

"No," I refused, crawling over to Jaime.

"What did I say?" He barked.

"I said no!"

"Jaime, make her come over here,"

"And why would I do that?" Jaime said, I crossed my legs and flinched; my legs still hurting. And took Jaime's arm in my hand, slowly easing out the big shards of glass.

"How did this happen?" I whispered.

"My stupid old man lost his tempter,"

"Doesn't it hurt?"

"Do you think it doesn't?"

"No... but you didn't even flinch,"

"Do you want me to flinch?"

"I'm just making sure your human,"

"I'm just asking you what you want,"

"I don't want anything,"

"I know you don't,"

"So why'd you ask?"

"Am I not allowed to ask questions?"

"No,"

"See, then you do want something,"

"And what's that?"

"You don't want me to ask you anything,"

"Doesn't matter,"

I heard a loud snore and I realised that Jaime's father had fell asleep.

I stood up and grabbed a tissue box. "Let's go back upstairs,"

"Aren't you still hungry?" He breathed.

"I'll live," I whispered back, holding his hand gently and helping him up the stairs.

"Where's the bathroom?" I asked softly.

He pointed at the end of the hallway and I walked him to it, opening the door and closing it.

I wetted the tissues with the cold water and softly pressed them to the cuts of the shards I had already taken out, then took a tweezer from the cup in the sink full of supplies.

Jaime looked at the tweezers.

"This might hurt... a lot," I confirmed.

"Close your eyes,"

He did as he was told and i took out the glass shards one by one, until both his arms where filled with bloody cuts. I pressed water on them lightly and cleaned up his arms until they were only scarred.

"Let's go back," I breathed, we walked to his room and I closed the door.

"Change your shirt, it's dirty," I muttered.

"OK," he said, I closed my eyes and turned around and patiently waited for him to change out of his dirty clothes.

"Are you done?"

"Yeah,"

I sat down beside him and let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

"Are they always like this?" I asked him.

"Do I have to answer?"

Evelyn's POV

I looked at the TV, Andi was sitting down in the floor with Mars as they ate the popcorn and watched the movie. I personally was more worried about Ani then I was about wether or not the dumb girl was going to open the door for the serial killer or not but fine.

The doorbell rang and I jumped up, was Ani back? I peeked through the window and my heart beat ten times harder against my chest as the colour drained out of my face.

My mother was standing at the door with a smirk on her face.

God no.
