"Ani," said Evelyn, embittered. "Go pack right this second because heaven knows I'm-"
"I don't want to move," I said, pulling at my sleeves. I stole all kinds of nail polish form Mars's mother's room and shakily did my nails, I liked them. It made me look like a popular. "Why can't we stick to this house?"
Evelyn stared at me, clenching her fists. "Ani, you're getting on my nerves," she warned.
"Tell me why your so uptight," I said, standing my ground. "You're not the same Evelyn-"
Evelyn let out a angry huff. "Ev, Calm the heck down. She's only a little girl and you're getting all worked up," Mars muttered.
Andi scooted down the handrail and landed on his feet with a billion dollar smile. "What's wrong?" He asked. Jaime looked up then looked back down, he was baking a tray of fudge chocolate chip cookies and was too focused on getting the cookie batter right so he hardly cared about anything. Apparently, Andi was an exception.
"I'm done packing," he said, gesturing to the bottle green backpack lazily dangling off his shoulders with a smirk.
"Great, and now all that's left is Ani," Evelyn said, looking at me.
"We can always leave her behind," Andi said. He looked at me with the corners of his grey coloured eyes, his cheeks somewhat rosy.
Jaime placed the tray of cookies in the oven, which he turned on prior to have it heated up; and he slammed the door shut. He crossed his legs, sitting on the marble floor. He patiently watched with a lightened expression. "You won't burn on me this time," he whispered.
"Fine," I said promptly. "I'll pack,"
I ran upstairs and straight into my room, my feed cuddling into the carpet. My mouth fell agape when I saw a suitcase already filled with me and Andi's clothes. I frowned and slid back downstairs, tumbling a little as I landed on my feet. "Copy cat," Andi said loudly.
"They're already packed," I said. "I am confusion,"
"Confused," Andi corrected.
"I did that on purpose," I said, rolling my eyes.
"I was just seeing if you'll obey me," Evelyn said with a drained look. "Andi's free,"
"How dare you!" Andi cried. "I'm downright expensive!"
"What?" Evelyn asked. "No, I meant your no longer punished,"
"So you got fed up with Andi stealing pans from the kitchen and drumming and decided to try and find a way to weed out of your own punishment?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Just about," Mars laughed.
"Yes!" I heard Jaime's cry of accomplishment and looked over. He took out perfectly crispy gold cookies with the mittens and slid them onto to the table. But immediately his eyebrows furrowed.
Mars went upstairs to bring the suitcase and I walked over to Jaime. "Let's play hide and seek! But with a twist, the seeker has to find the hider without moving, I'll be the seeker,"
Andi sat on the kitchen table, his eyes glued to the iPad. I closed my eyes and starting counting to ten.
"...nine... nine and a quarter... nine and a half... TEN!" I turned around and my eyes grazed every possible surface. "Ready or not, here I come!"
"Under the table?" I asked, trying to look under without behind over form my spot. "Behind a chair?"
"No,"
"Erm..." I looked around, wondering if he could hide in the oven and survive.
I lent my hand on the wall. "You caught me," I turned around as stared, just before I lent my hand he must've slipped in because I was sure he wasn't here before.
