"Dariel?" I asked.

"Yes?"

"Can I sleep at yours tonight?"

He looked surprised, but it was quickly followed by a depressed expression.

"Do you want me to tell you a secret?"

"Maybe... yeah," I murmured. "Do either Jaime or Sirius know?"

"They do," he reassured me. "But you promise you won't tell?"

"I promise,"

He thought for a second. "... I won't tell you,"

I stared up at him, slightly crestfallen. "Why?"

"You can't open up to someone you just met yesterday,"

"You said we were friends," I reminded him.

"Yeah... but not best friends," he said, giving me a small smile. "It's a touchy subject. And your too young,"

"I'm six," I said, frustrated. "I'm not young,"

"But I'm two years older,"

"Your point?" I asked. he didn't say anything. "Why does it matter so much?"

"Jaime," Dariel said.

"Ani, stop asking him questions," Jaime ordered, flicking a marble so it hit the wall and came back to him.

"I hate secrets," I crossed my arms and looked at the ground. My hair fell to my face.

"Can we play?" Dariel asked Jaime.

"No,"

"Why?"

"I said no,"

"Yeah, why did you say no?"

"I don't have to have a reason for everything," he said, a marble he flicked towards the wall went shooting upwards, he caught it with his hand.

"But if we don't have a reason for everything, everything will be useless," I said.

"Well I guess the marbles are useless then,"

He flicked a purple marble and it hit Dariel.

"Ouch," Dariel muttered, flinching.

"Why did you do that?" I asked, a little upset. "What if it hit his eye?"

"Sorry," Jaime apologised to me.

"But you didn't hit me. Why are you saying sorry to me?"

Jaime looked at me. "Sorry, Dariel,"

Dariel looked at me with a small smile. "Bossy," he mused.

The bell rang loudly and I moaned.

"I don't feel like school," I groaned.

"Just pretend to be sick and take of the day off," suggested Dariel.
