Keith's POV-

I was in shock. My anger towards Lotor quickly vanished, and all I felt was shock at what he was telling me. I grew up with the legends, but I never thought that they were true. Then I remembered the fire. And the realization that I was fine, and everything around me was fine. Except my clothes. And the word Voltron. A word I had never heard before the fire.

"So, you're telling me I can control fire. And that those dudes down there are here to kill me? Why wasn't I told sooner when, oh I donno, you found out?! You made it seem like you already knew, so what was the harm in telling me?" I rambled. I didn't know what to do with all this information.

"Look, you can yell at whoever you want later, but right now you have got to use your powers to get out of here. They will not hesitate to kill you if they're under direct orders to," Lotor said matter of factly. I can't do this. I CAN'T.

"Well, wouldn't Shiro be on his way? With the other Paladins?" I asked a bit hopeful. I called Shiro, and was surprised to get Lotor.

"He's on his way, but I got here quicker since Allura was trying to make him think rationally and make a plan. It was mostly a decoy to send me to talk to you and convince you to use your powers. So, no pressure, but if you fail Shiro will come and get killed since he is nothing to the Galra," said Lotor. Again, shock. But also anger. I could not let them kill my only family. I just couldn't. So, putting on the bravest face I could, I told him to tell me his plan. He seemed reluctant, but agreed to try his best.

"Alright, now that we're on the same page, all we need is a distraction." That's when the fire hydrants exploded.

Lance's POV-

Being the first to volunteer in anything had never really been my style, especially on a mission that feels very dangerous, but I couldn't help it. Also, "volunteer" wasn't the right word. It was more of "I-saw-Lotor-go-out-the-front-door-and-followed-him- knowing-he-was-going-towards-Keith". I know, very smart, but I couldn't stay put knowing that cute boy from the swing was in trouble.

I stayed a good distance behind Lotor for two reasons. One, I didn't want him to find me and send me back to Allura who would probably scold me for leaving. And two, I didn't really have a choice since he ran waaaay quicker than me. But he's a runner, I'm more of a swimmer, or a long walks on the beach kind of guy.

By the time I got there all I could see of Lotor was him sneaking in through the back and going up the stairs. I was about to follow him when I saw the big scary dude with the metal arm telling the other scary dudes to go secure the back. I needed to make a distraction so I could sneak in and help Keith escape.

I noticed the fire hydrants and got the stupidest but also the most brilliant idea ever. I tried putting all of my thoughts into the fire hydrant, but that didn't work. So I thought about how I needed the water's help to get to Keith. That's when I felt the tug on the back of my head and a tingling sensation. I realized I needed to work with the element, not try to control it. And I did something else unexpected: I started mind-talking to the water.

I thought it was crazy, but I begged old H2O for help, telling them I needed their cooperation.

Hmm, this is the first time someone's tried working with me in a looong time boy. What makes you so special?

I looked around, and realized that the thing talking to me was the water. I was startled to say the least, but decided I couldn't waste much time if I wanted to save Keith.

Oooo Keith, is he your boyfriend? I can hear your thoughts, lover boy.

Alright, if you can hear them, then you don't need me to explain my plan, I thought. It took the water a moment, as if going through the plan in my head.
