Keith's POV

"Boys, it is a rescue mission for the four of us. Do not go anywhere or do anything that will bring unnecessary attention to us. Remember your role," Allura said to Lotor, Lance and I. Nodding in understanding we proceeded to split up.

Due to Lotor's lineage, he knew all the secret passages and ways to sneak around the ships we were currently moving around in. It was easier to avoid the guards on the higher floors as we navigated our way down into the jail cells for their captors. Allura wanted to help as many prisoners as possible, but her top priority was Coran.

"Guys, we managed to hook our collector into their computer and I've hacked the ship. We are in control."

That was our cue. Lance and I nodded to each other, and he extended his hand towards me.

"Together?" He held a look of pure determination. I reciprocated and put my hand in his and gave it a squeeze.

"Together."

With those words, we plunged into the light and into enemy territory. We exited the passageway carefully, making sure to not alert the guards nearby. Once out entirely, we snuck by them. We managed to do this successfully until we arrived to the entrance to the prison cells. Guards were all over the floor and all the prisoners were pass the arc that was being guarded.

"It might be time to fight," Lance said, trying to convey a reassuring tone. Whether it was for himself or for me, I wasn't sure. But it was not the time to ask because my warm friend decided to make their reappearance.

You could always try what I've been teaching you.

I can't mess this up for us now, Red. I never truly perfected that move, and I'm better at combat, I told them. I could feel Red's annoyance being conveyed by a warm feeling in my head, but I didn't back down.

I thinks you should, said a lower voice, completely opposite of what Red was. My boy and you cannot risk detection now, and the longer you argue with that stubborn flame the more time you waste.

Blue, I realized. The reassuring feeling she sent was like a tide coming onto shore, submerging only a small amount of myself so I didn't feel like I'd drown. Yet her words struck me for two reasons. One, this was the longest conversation I've had with an element that wasn't mine. Also, conversation is a bit generous but I'll take what I can get. Second, Blue talking to me meant that it was our only option, and they were right. I didn't want to be the reason Lance ended up in one of their cells.

"Alright, so Red and I have been working on this move that could possibly help us go undetected. I could raise the guards' body temperature just enough where they can pass out and we can slip by. The only problem is that I've only done it a couple of times because if I try too hard, I can boil them alive. You would be safe as Blue will keep your body temperature at a safe degree. If I fail, I need you to leave and take the others with you. I can't compromise Voltron's reputation by making it seem like we inflicted painful death on guards." He look conflicted with this order, but agreed to it in the end. Just before I began making it hot, Lance grabbed me by the neck and gave me a kiss. It wasn't long, maybe 5 seconds, but it was filled with many emotions. Reassurance, fear, adoration. When we pulled back, he smiled at me.

"Knock them unconscious, babe," he said. And so, I turned up the heat and concentrated. Although initially met with no reaction, the guards eventually began shifting uncomfortably, and one by one, they began falling to the ground. A panic began settling in, but it was too late. The last guard, before making it to the alarm passed out right in front of it. Once we were sure of their condition (alive), we passed under the arc and entered the prisoner quadrant. Time for phase 2.

Hi. This is... awkward. Nice to see y'all again. I kinda suck at updating. But since I'm stuck in quarantine maybe I can finish this story up once and for all. We are getting close to the twist of the story, so hold on.
