Ch. 12- Trainer's Ring

Keith POV-

It had been a whole day until Lance recovered. Lotor needed an hour until he was back up and briefing Allura about the attack. I gave my input here and there, but I was mostly concerned about Lance.

Allura apparently had this healing pod that her (adoptive) father, Coran, had. It was part of the tech that he found her in. They put Lance in there and he's been there since. I hadn't left his side unless it was to go to the bathroom or eat since Allura didn't want me making a mess.

   You can leave his side for a few minutes. Lance will be okay. These pods where the best when Alfor was alive....

   The voice stayed quiet after that. It did explain to me that it was the fire talking to me, and that all the Paladins heard their elements talk to them. It also said to call them Red.

And it wasn't until I decided to clear my head and get fresh air did Pidge say Lance was going to be fully healed in a few minutes. I ran downstairs to the basement which was where the pod was stored, and waited with the rest of the team for him to come out.  I tapped the glass with my finger.

   "C'mon already!" I exclaimed, frustrated.

   "Just wait a few more seconds," Pidge told me, seeing as I hadn't been able to wait at all since he'd been put inside the pod.

   "What will a few seconds do?" I said, still frustrated, but to a slightly less degree.

   "He's finished healing. Everyone, stand back so he'll have some room," Allura said. We all complied, although I was a bit more reluctant, as the glass disappeared and Lance wobbled out. I automatically went to catch him, and I had him in my arms. I looked at him, and he looked at me, and we just stayed there, looking at each other for a while.

   We heard a cough, and looked over to see the whole team staring at us. I helped him up and decided to put a bit of distance between us. As I looked at the faces, I saw Shiro give me a shit eating grin, and Pidge on the brink of writing fan fiction about it.

   "Well, I'm glad you're okay Lance. We should probably get some food in you," Allura said. With as much swagger as he could, Lance gave her a beautiful grin.

   "Food and talking? Are you asking me out?" Lance said. She gave him an unamused look, and we all shook our heads. That comment stung a little, so I just stayed back and sulked a bit as everyone else but Shiro filed out of the room.

   "You okay baby bro?" Shiro said, probably knowing pretty well how I felt. I nodded.

   "Yeah, I guess. Must've read too much into the staring and the "We make a good team" and the life saving and whatnot," I said disappointedly. Shiro shook me, trying to get some sense into me.

   "Are you kidding me? I've lived with you a good portion of our lives, so my gaydar is pretty accurate. I can assure you everything that guy has done isn't 100% straight. Life saving? Pretty gay. "We make a good team"? Gayer. The staring that just occurred between you two? That was off the charts. You bonded and you tell him that. If you think he's cute, go for it!" Shiro said passionately. I hugged him, and he wasted no time hugging me back.

   "I love you so much Shiro, and your undying faith and support is what makes you the best person in my life," I said. As we pulled back, I could see the tears in both of our eyes.

   "You know it. So go up there and stop him from flirting with Allura because I swear I will pummel him," he said. I gave a chuckle.

   "I knew you weren't telling me to go for Lance just because. You just don't like him giving her any attention since you're already competing with Lotor," I said. He gave me the stink eye as I ran upstairs laughing.
