Pidge's POV-

God, I hated the outdoors. I'd rather be inside doing.... anything really. We were on a "family vacation" to the jungle, and sure, nature is nice and all, but I do not like the mosquitoes.

My dad was a archeologist, and we made an agreement that I would go to one of his expeditions each year as long as I could study computer science when I got to college (he wanted my brother and me to study archeology like him. My brother also has the same agreement as me.)

"Katie, don't wander too far. You know what? Take Matt with you!" I groaned. I hated feeling babysat, but as long as I didn't have to wait here and listen to one of his lectures about a monkey statue he found in 1998, I'll take Matt any day.

"Alright dad. We'll be back before sundown." Matt said. I was already out the door before he agreed. Matt was a few years older than me, but we were still really close because we both loved the same things. We also both wanted to go to Galaxy Garrison University, and my father doesn't necessarily approve, but as long as we're as happy as he is with our career choice, he's happy.

"So, big bro, where do you think we should go?" I asked him as I skipped a stone over the river we use as our guide. Going up stream leads towards camp, so we always know where to go if we get lost.

"Well, funny you should ask Pidge," I scrunched my nose at the mention of his nickname for me, but didn't interrupt him, "I found a cave on my recent solo expedition the other day, but didn't want to go investigate it without my faithful partner."

"Oooo, how far is it from here?" I asked. He gave me a guilty look, and I realized what that meant.

"It might or might not be in through the jungle...." he said.

"Matt! You know you shouldn't stray too far from the river! What if you got lost, you know I hate it when you do risky stuff. I couldn't handle losing you." I said the last part quietly. He gave me quiet hug, but it spoke legions: I'm sorry.

"But, do you still want to check out the cave or....?" He asked, uncertain. I gave him a look, but decided what was done was done, and I was curious about this cave.

"Lead the way!" I said. He smiled and started heading in through the jungle.

We walked for a few minutes in, and for some reason, I kept getting this weird buzzing noise in my ear, but I shrugged it off as the bugs. Stupid bugs. But I've noticed that the closer we were getting to the cave, according to Matt's "calculations", the louder it got. As we finally got to the entrance of it, I realized it was a tight fit. Matt realized it too.

"It looked a lot bigger before, I swear. I might be able to fit through," he said. As he turned around to put our backpacks on the ground, I crawled inside. I didn't know why I did that, but something in the way the buzzing got louder was setting alarms in my brain. As I finally got to the inside of the cave, I heard Matt grunt.

"It's fine Matt. Take your time, don't hurt yourself," I told him. But it was mostly because of what was inside of the cave. A glowing green light that was coming from an orb. As I got closer, the buzzing seem to get stronger. And then I realized: the orb was calling me. And for someone as smart as me, I did the stupidest thing and touched it. And all I saw was green.

"Pidge? Katie, where are you?" He said worriedly. I woke up, feeling a bit dazed. As I gave myself a once-over, Matt finally found me. "There you are. Dad would've killed me if I lost you. It's late, and the suns getting real low." He helped me up, and when I looked at my surroundings, I realized the only reason I didn't get any injuries was because my fall was cushioned by shrubbery that I knew for a fact wasn't there before.

"Y-yeah, let's go now." I did not wasn't to spend another second here. As we found the river and went upstream, I couldn't stop thinking about the orb. And how it went missing after I woke up. When dad saw up, safe and sound, he told us we should clean up and get some sleep. I ignored the first part and went straight to bed.

Rethinking all of my actions though the day as I went to bed, one last word went through my head, confusing me: Voltron.
