They sat there and talked, at some point Nino started admiring her, the way she talked, she couldn't roll her "Rs" very well. Whenever she tried to say anything that started with an R, it sounded weird, although she didn't have the R-factor. They spoke about different things, moving from education to politics and some few other interesting subjects. He never thought of Zibu as this intelligent person. He was impressed. Maybe that was why it was hard for her to settle for most of the guys that tried to ask her out. She was smarter than most of them, at least according to what Nino had noticed.

'Why didn't i even ask this one out' he said aloud in his mind.

They said their goodbyes and took opposite directions, Zibu was really happy and excited, she didn't know what she was feeling but it felt good. She smiled from the front of her hostel till she got to her room. She plugged in her ear piece to her phone, she scrolled through the music library on her phone. She stopped at a particular song and hit the play button, she danced softly as "Crossroads by Tracy Chapman" played. She folded some clothes she left on her bed.

She was still dancing around when her phone started ringing

'Hello' Zibu picked

'Please can you come to the room' Asma'u sobbed at the other end of the line

'ok gani nan zuwa' Zibu put on her pajamas and headed straight to Asma'u' room

Zibu pushed the door to Asma'u' room slowly, she wondered why it was pitch dark, even though there was electricity power in the block.

The squeaking noise from the hinges of the door filled the room.

'Assalamu alaykum' Zibu said as she tried to switch on the light

'No no no, please don't switch on the light' Asma'u' voice echoed from one corner of the room 'Walaykum salam'

Zibu froze, she didn't understand what was going on 'Asma'u i have to put on this light' Zibu switched on the light

She was shocked when she saw Asma'u crying, sitting on the floor, her eyes looked red and swollen which meant she had been crying for a while. Zibu ran to her side, she sat next to her and put Asma'u' head on her chest as she tried to wipe off the tears from her face.

'I am pushing him away' Asma'u cried out

'You mean Adamu?' Zibu asked for confirmation

'Yes!' Tears rolled down Asma'u cheeks.

'Oh, that's why he was looking gloomy when i saw him earlier' Zibu thought to herself

'You guys are still fighting? I thought you guys made up this evening?' Zibu sounded confused

'Yes and then he was trying to explain what happened and then i snapped again' Asma'u cried

Zibu really pitied her, she sounded helpless, she had never seen her this way before. She thought of calling Dai'ba but it was already late. She decided to call Folake, since Folake was a late sleeper. She dialed Folake's number and it went straight to "call waiting"

Zibu hissed 'She is probably talking to that clown Fa'ad'

Asma'u was still sobbing, Zibu tried to calm her down by brushing her hair with her fingers. Asma'u lifted her head up like she just realized something, she looked straight into Zibu's eyes

'I know he is a good guy, he would never intentionally hurt me, i don't know why i keep hurting him' she paused for a second 'I don't want to lose him' she sank her face into her pillow.

Zibu sat on her bed helpless, she was confused on what to do or say, all she could do was pamper her and maybe get her to sleep. Just as she was doing that her phone rang, it was Folake.
