》A Monday morning 《

"I can't believe my baby is growing up. Just yesterday you were peeing in the bed.", Kia squealed while pinching my cheeks.

"Aunt Kia!", I groaned, slapping her hands away. She just yelled out my personal business for the whole world to hear.

It was a bright day at seven in the morning. Cars passing by in a hurry for work, birds flying in a flock, and the sun starting to rise up for a new day; the different hues of the sky dissolving into a light blue. Currently we were loading up my belongings in my car since today was the day I was departing for college. Before break I applied to different colleges, and I was excited to receive the acceptance letter from the University of Houston in the mail. Most of my family had went there for their careers, and now I would also.

"I'm for real Donny, can't you just stay here and do online courses." Aunt Kia hugged me tight and pulled away squashing my cheeks. She was still in her pajamas and in quote stated before, "After your ass leave, I'm going back to bed."

And stay here with her crazy ass. Lol no.

"Well my college requires me to live on campus and no offense," I laid my hand on her shoulder, "but to be honest you've have to live your life. Get a man or a few." Aunt Kia has always taken care of me and I'm internally grateful, but I don't want her to miss out on her life just because she's been securing mine.

That made Kia laugh.

"Girl what you talking about. Who do you think your dad went to for advice when we were little. I've always had the men." We both laughed as she placed her hands on her hips. She's always been a catch. Light brown doe eyes complementing her glowing dark brown skin. I'll say her and Tika Sumpter were twins.

"But other than that, let me take a real quick picture." Kia stood back a few steps and positioned the camera.

I did a pose and heard a click. She walked back over and showed me the picture.

Nice.

"I'm going to miss you bud," Kia spread her arms all out, motioning for me to hug her. "Be sure to call anytime you get the chance or I will come up there myself and beat your ass." She pulled away just a little bit, smiling sweetly. I could see the tears that wanted to come out, but they refused to escape where they were. It was hard for me too. Kia and I have been inseparable ever since my parents' death and she's the one who help me through hard times.

Just thinking about it made my tears sway away from my eyelashes, strolling down my face.

"I'll miss you too, Kia pet.", I hugged back.

I heard her sigh. "Are you going to be okay?" She asked as she pulled away. I looked into her eyes that held a deeper meaning. She was referring to the anniversary of my parents' death that would be coming up in a few days. It has been seventeen long years since their passing and the accident. "I could always take off and come up there to comfort you."

I smiled. "Don't worry I'll be okay. All I want you to do is worry about getting some penis. Now bye!"

I walked off the porch to my jag, hearing, "Oh believe me, I do!"

I chuckled.

I get settled in my car, setting my purse beside me. Starting the ignition, I plug my phone into the aux where Sativa by Jhené starts to boom through the speakers.

I pull out the driveway and look to see Kia yelling something from the lawn in my rear-view mirror. Pulling down the window, I hear:

"Wrap it before you tap it!"

I rolled my eyes and waved one last time before sliding my window back up.

My aunt Kia sure is something.

I stopped at a traffic light as it turned red. The nerves bounce off of me as I anticipate making my way down the highway and onto the interstate. I had an three hour and fifty minute drive ahead of myself if I took forty-five north from Dallas to Houston.

The traffic light changed to green, and I started up the engine.

College here I come.
