Forbidden: Chapter 6

Hayes' POV:

it all happened so fast: we drove up and there he was. he saw her and me, he had to of. the next thing I knew he was walking speedily towards us. I grabbed the key out of the car and shoved it into my pocket. I knew a fight might happen, at least i had somewhat of a weapon. he opened the door and tried dragging her out, before I knew it I was out of the car and on her side pulling him off of her.
"what's your problem man?!" I yelled at him. my blood was boiling.
"this isn't any of your business, okay? so just get back in the car and leave us be." he said turning back around. I grabbed his shoulder and turned him around.
"no, you're not about to be 'left be', you're gonna get away from her and my car, and go home." his eyes flashed with rage. he got turned all the way around and looked down at me.
"and just what are YOU gonna do about it?" he says. i stay silent and just look at him. he turns back around and starts trying to get her out again. he succeeds and I don't say anything.
"come on abbie." he says grabbing her wrist.
"no, I refuse to go anywhere with you."
"I'm giving you one last chance to come with me or-"
"or what, Colton?" I say now even more angry. "tell you what, I'm giving YOU one last chance. let her go."
"get back in your car or-" all of a sudden i couldn't hold back, she was cringing from how hard he was holding her wrist and I couldn't watch it any longer. my fist connected with his jaw and as he stumbled back i jumped on him.
it took 15 minutes for abbie and her mom to get me off of him. by that time he was out cold and bloody. the ambulance and the police arrived and me and abbie were questioned. I was let go free of charges since he was in defense of abbie. Abbie's mother hugged me and thanked me for bringing her home and for saving her from Colton. it's been years since I last saw her, but she looked the same as she always had, just a bit older.
since I was so out of place i called my older brother Nash to come pick me up, Mrs.Benson thought it would be best. she stayed with me at the house until Nash got there, abbie had left awhile before in her mother's car to go to the hospital. she may have been mad and disgusted with the boy, but she sure did care about him. after all, he was still out cold when he got to the hospital which is about 35 minutes away.
when Nash got there i explained everything and we both vowed not to tell mom and dad if the police department hadn't already. i got home and took a shower, then checked my phone. there was a missed call and 2 texts from abbie.

A:call me ASAP
A:HAYES!!!!

I called her right then, she picked up immediately.
"hayes," she said through her sobs. "h-he's in a c-c-coma." she was hysteric. all I could summon from my mouth was "im so sorry, it's gonna be okay abbie, please stop crying abbie." after a few minutes of her sobbing and trying to talk, i said
"do you want me to come to the hospital?" and through her sobs i assumed she said yes, so I put on a t-shirt and ran out to my car and speeded all the way there.
she was in the waiting area of the emergency room sobbing into her hands. all of her makeup was gone, and her eyes looked like she had been stoned to the max.
she literally ran and fell into my arms when she saw me. she just cried into my chest and i trapped her in my embrace. the sound of her crying made me start tearing up too.
"what have I done?" i whisper to myself.
