Nash's POV:
"i dont know man, he's been like this for weeks."
"you at least have to try." shawn was so convinced hayes would just snap out of the depression he suffered from a weekend with the guys.
"okay shawn, i'll try. i will." there wasn't any use in arguing. that's all ive done with hayes since abbie left him.
"that's all i ask. thanks for everything man, you're the best."
"yeah, anytime. love you bro."
"love you too Nash." then i clicked off the phone call.
hayes wasn't the same after him and abbie split. he didn't talk much anymore, and when he did it was only when he was spoken to by my parents. i catch him staring into space a lot, he just isn't the same. he stays in his room most of the time.
i had been spending a lot of time with my friend circle, which was amazing because we all used to live so far away. cameron and i had made up recently, but he was moving to California soon. he asked if i wanted to come, but i said no for my family's sake. he and his parents were moving to San Francisco apparently. but i think after he graduates he'll move to LA. carter just moved up and lives with Jack J. Jack G and i have become fairly close, but him and hayes have really drifted. Jack was a Hayes' age so we didn't have much to talk about. hayes and him used to be pretty close, i don't know what happened. im pretty sure it has something to do with abbie though. i wouldnt blame jack honestly. she was a great girl, she respected herself. it was odd for a beautiful girl such as her in our town to have so much self respect. she didn't take much crap from anyone.
my parents were out of town and Skylynn was with them, so it was just me and hayes. which made it clear when I heard footsteps on the stairs, it was hayes.
"hey, where are you going?" he had on a tshirt and jeans with his black skater vans. his hair was brushed which I hadn't seen it in weeks.
"out." he said blankly.
"is it a girl?" he turned around and raised his eyebrow them gave me a look of disgust.
"what's it matter to you?"
"look hayes, you can't keep acting like-"
"like what Nash? i lost the girl i love, the only thing that ever meant anything to me. you try not being depressed after that. it's all my fault too." we just looked at each other for a second.
"i understand you're sad, but just listen for a second. shawn asked me if you would like to join us next weekend for cam's going away party."
"who's us?"
"shawn, liv, matt, katherine, cameron, carter, johnson, gilinsk-"
"im not going." he said before i could tell him the rest.
"and just why not?"
"Gilinsky." he mumbled, then walked out.
Abbie's POV:
it's been 3 and a half weeks since Hayes and i parted ways. im still unbelievably sad, but im living with it. Jack and i had been spending a lot of time together, which makes me happy. at least when im with him i feel somewhat better.
"what're you thinking about?" Jack said not looking up from his phone. i had been sitting in the same position on the leather couch for about 10
minutes just staring at my toes.
"nothing."
"something." he locked his phone and sat up straight.
"no."
"yes." he smirked. he was beautiful, you couldn't deny it. every guy envied him. perfect hair, perfect teeth, perfect laugh, perfect jeep. it's not even funny how perfect he was.
"jack stop." he started pulling my leg towards him.
"and what if i don't?" he shot back.
"i'll kick you in the balls."
"wouldn't be the first time." he sighed and let go. he looked at me for a second, then started chuckling.
"what?" i hit him with a pillow.
"you're like a little kid."
"am not!" then i realized that i sounded like one.
"mhm, sure you're not." he smiled again.
"let's go do something." i said suddenly.
"oh, like what?"
"let's go see Cam." Jack nodded slightly then started to speak.
"let's go then."
we got in the jeep to go. shawn and liv left a week after Hayes and i broke up which made me sad because me and olivia were actually good friends. i lied to my parents when me and Hayes went to Starbucks about going with "Olivia Mathis" when i knew she was a world renowned supermodel and i would probably never meet her. but then i did and we were actually good friends.
we got to Cameron's house and just went on in. me and cam became friends after me and Hayes broke up and we actually were pretty close. Jack and him had always been close too. we walked in, and there sat cameron,Matthew, Katherine and Hayes.
Jack put his arm around me
unexpectedly.
"what the-" Hayes mumbled, then cameron raised an eyebrow.
"hey guys." Matt said awkwardly.
"haha hey." Jack flashed a huge smile that lit up the room.
"abbie, may i have a word?" cameron said with eyes wide open.
"of course." i said without hesitation. cameron took me to the kitchen.
"Hayes is depressed." he said suddenly.
"um well, im not exactly happy either."
"this is great. this is awesome! this is just GREAT!" cameron started yelling.
"why is this great?"
"because you can get back together!"
"what? no! i can't do that cameron."
"and just why not?" cameron was actually enthusiastic about this.
"because it's just, it's just not-"
"not what? is this because of Jack?"
"no, not at all." i stammered.
"well then go back to being with Hayes. you were happy. don't you still love him?"
"of course i do, i-i just can't be with him."
"but abbie, just give him another chance. he'll make it worth it, i promi-"
"STOP MAN. STOP!" Matt was screaming from the living room.
we walked in and that's when everything went downhill.
