Text Etiquette

I'm sure most (if not all) of you text. And if you text, I'm willing to bet that you text quite a bit. I'll admit it; I text more than my mom eats salad.

But, there are some people who either need to

1) not text

2) learn how to text.

There are, in my opinion, three types of people who need to go down either of these roads.

#1. The Text Talker

Now, I'm okay with using abbreviations such as 'gtg' or 'wbu'. That's fine. But there are some people whose messages look like this:

hey wuz up r u fre 2nite

I just can't take that.

It's one thing to abbreviate if you are in a rush, but is it really that hard to type 'you' 'are' or 'what'?

#2. The Impatient Spaz

Now, I know this sounds kind of mean, but it is fully true.

These are the people who will text you fifteen times in the span of five minutes and will get angry when you don't reply.

And then, when you finally DO reply, they send you texts three or four at a time.

You can relay everything you want to say to me in one text, thanks!

#3. The Grammar Ignorer

I understand grammar doesn't really apply to texting. I mean, we're not in school, right?

Right. But it is important to at least care a little bit.

For instance, if someone sends a text to me and it looks like this:

so I was yesterday at the mall but and their was this dog that jump into the air and it is cool so yeah I had fun

What?

I can't understand what you are trying to tell me when you sound like a primate.

You don't have to use commas and apostrophes et cetera, but please PLEASE at least use some subject-verb agreement.

I will not hesitate to tell someone to retype their text to where I can actually understand it.

So if you think you are in one of these three categories, you might want to take a text etiquette class...
