Procrastination Station

I suffer from a chronic disease.

Many people, especially teenagers, also endure the horrible effects of this ailment.

It's called procrastination.

Please tell a doctor if you think you show any of the following side effects of procrastination:

Laziness

Inability to complete given work

Excuses

Complaints

Assuring yourself you'll get it done tomorrow

If you tend to do any of these things, you are most likely a procrastinator. Refer to your doctor for further instructions.

So, yes. Procrastination is pretty annoying, even though we kind of control whether or not we procrastinate. I, for one, am a major procrastinator, especially when it comes to doing chores.

The thing about procrastination, though, is that it seems totally normal to always say to yourself "Eh, I'll get it done later."

SPOILER ALERT:

No you won't.

Trust me, if you don't suck it up and get your work done RIGHT THEN, you will never get it done.

I struggle with procrastination. I think everyone does. But it's just so much easier to 'wait to do it' than to actually resolve to complete a task.

But why do we even procrastinate?

Why can't we just do it right then?

I always push my homework off until after sports. I don't know WHY, I just do. I think that we procrastinate so that we feel like we're lightening our work load when... Really... We're not.

I had to take this mini-course in sixth grade called 'study skills'. There was a worksheet on procrastination, and reasons why we do it, what is considered procrastinating, et cetera.

I remember I procrastinated doing the procrastination worksheet.
