For the most part, the human race is okay.
I'd much prefer to be left alone with my books and my music, but I don't think that humanity is the unsaid curse upon this world.
HOWEVER...
There are some types of people whose necks I would be happy to throttle.
1. People who think that they are too cool to like something after it goes mainstream.
This really irks me.
These people think that they are "not letting society control them" by not liking whatever the rest of society likes, even if they liked it previously. I see it all the time, especially with books and music.
Let me give you an example:
"Hey, do you like Divergent? I've read the whole trilogy, and I thought it was simply amazing! Veronica Roth definitely knows how to write."
"Oh, yeah, I read the first book, and I thought it was really good, but now it's so mainstream, so I don't like it anymore."
What?
To me, this makes no sense. So, you don't want the author/artist/whoever to become successful? That seems a bit rude.
2. People who peg all smart people as study-machines who do nothing but math all weekend.
I hate stereotypes. I hate them.
I'm going to tell you something; I care about my school work. I want to succeed academically. People might consider me a bit "smart."
But I am not the person who spends her entire weekend reading my math or science textbook. I go outside. I play sports. Just because someone wants to be conceived as intelligent does not mean that they are some sort of math-loving recluse.
3. People who fish for complements.
We've all done this at least once.
But it becomes irritating when a person is always saying stuff like this:
"Ugh, I'm SO ugly. I wish I was as pretty as you are."
"You're so thin; I can only dream of achieving your weight."
"I'm totally dumb--If only I was smart like you."
These people have to downplay themselves to justify giving someone a complement. Also, it shows either extreme arrogance or really low self-confidence.
Let me give you a crazy idea...
Maybe you shouldn't need other people to reinforce the fact that you are perfect just the way you are.

I know that the last part sounded like one of those sappy beauty commercials but oh well.
