We decided on Saturday evening at 7 PM. It seemed like a good time, but it made me nervous. What if this ruined our friendship completely? What if we had a falling out and we never spoke again? Maybe this was a bad idea.
My heart slammed against my chest as I relooked myself over in the mirror, nervous about the events that would take place tonight. It had been a long and stressful week or training already, so this would be good for me. It was a breather.
"You look great, Kaede," Masaru was suddenly behind me, a smile on his lips, "I think you need shoes to go with your dress though," He teased, pinching my cheek as he held up the black flats with two fingers.
I blushed slightly and snatched them away from him, and placed them on the bed. A knock sounded from the door and my heart slammed against my chest as I heard Dad call for me. I ran towards the sock drawer while speaking, "I-I-I'll be down i-in a moment," I called, my voice shaking with nervousness.
I quickly put on the white socks that reached my ankles and then slipped on my shoes. With one last look in the mirror, I pushed my blonde hair behind my ear.
"IS THAT GUY YOU'RE DATING SHINSO?!" Natsumi and the other two girls screamed while running towards me.
My cheeks reddened and I placed my hands up, forcing them to keep their distances, "I-It's just a date, but yes, that's Shinso" I explained, a blush rising to my cheeks.
Natsumi and Rei both pouted and Junko grabbed my hand, jerking me out the bedroom door. "H-Hey!" I exclaimed as I stumbled after the small girl.
We entered the living room and I looked up to see Hitoshi standing there. Our cheeks were both tinted red, but gradually got deeper as we looked at each other. Hitoshi had cleaned up pretty well. It was simple. A button up white shirt, jeans, his regular shoes, and he hadn't touched his hair at all.
Me? I was dressed in a black dress with red roses on the end. I had put on a bit of makeup, and I had my hair loose which was a new sight for him to see. I wore simple white socks and a pair of black flats. Nothing to casual, but nothing to fancy.
Hitoshi blinked quickly before rubbing the back of his neck with a smile on his lips, "Y-you look nice, Kaede," He informed.
"Y-you too," I responded.
My over dramatic, man-child of a father wiped away a non existent tear away while speaking, "My daughter's all grown up," He then looked at Shin'ichi, who was visiting for the weekend and spoke, "Pay up,"
Shin'ichi groaned and handed him a twenty dollar bill. I looked at them with a very unamused look. It wasn't out of their nature to bet on stupid things. Shin'ichi offered an awkward smile and spoke, "We were betting to see if her first date would be with you or not," He explained to Hitoshi.
A rather awkward chuckle left his lips and I walked over, "We should be going now," He informed, "It was great to meet you,"
"You to boy-o, she talks highly of you, so live up to what she says about you. Have her back by ten," Dad informed.
My cheeks burned and Hitoshi nodded before grabbing my hand, causing my cheeks to erupt in a flame of red, and walked out the door. I could see him visibly relax and he unbuttoned his shit slightly. He looked much more relaxed now.
"You really tried to impress them?" I asked smiling at him.
"I wanted to have a good impression on them," He informed, releasing my hand, and instead wrapping his arm around my waist as we walked down the staircase towards the ground. "You know, for a big family you've got a tiny apartment,"
"We've...been tight on money since my mom died. Her funeral sucked every last penny from us," I explained, a small frown on my lips at the thought.
"Rei...you've told me a lot about her," He glanced at me, "Was she the short redhead?" He asked.
I nodded my head, "Yeah," I replied, "Changing the topic, where are we going?" I asked, looking up at him with a bright smile.
He chuckled softly and looked at me, "You'll just have to wait and see," He informed, poking my forehead.
I pouted at him and we walked in a comfortable silence, his arm wrapped around my waist and my own wrapped around him. My tail was swishing back and forth as we walked side by side towards out destination.
"Hitoshi, are we going to the park?" I asked with a grin.
Hitoshi glanced at me with a rather amused glimmer in his purple eyes, "Only for the first part of the date," He informed smirking.
I grinned, "A man with a plan, I like it," I teased. I glanced up at him to see his cheeks go red.
He remained silent until we got to the park. I immediately took off towards the swing, smiling brightly. I heard a light chuckle from Hitoshi as he followed behind me. I sat down on the swing and looked at him as he spoke, "I learn a little more about you everyday," He informed, holding the chains as he looked at me.
The moom simply made him look 100x more cuter, and it made me blush slightly, "Y-Yeah? Well what'd you learn yesterday and today?" I joked.
"Well, today I just saw a whole childish side to you. Yesterday I only noticed something your eyes do whenever you look at someone you like," He informed almost sounding cocky.
I cocked a brow as I looked at him, and he smiled, "You're doing it right now. You're eyes are dilating every time you look at me," He informed, grinning.
My cheeks reddened and I looked down at my hands, embarrassed. Hitoshi used his thumb and index finger to push my head up to look at him, "But don't worry, I find it...adorable,"
