My eyes fluttered open feeling someone roughly nudge me. I groaned quietly as my eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight filtering in through the curtains. I closed them once more.

"Wake up, Hikawa," A familiar voice spoke.

"No," I muttered quietly, rolling onto my side and curling into a ball.

Suddenly, a hand latched onto my fluffy tail and pulled me off the couch. A loud yelp left my lips as I landed onto the floor. I scrambled up, becoming face-to-chest with Hitoshi. I slapped his chest, and folded my arms over my chest, "Don't pull my tail, Shinso!" I yelled, glaring at him.

He smiled down at me and spoke, "Should've woke up, Hikawa," He replied, "Go get dressed,"

I grumbled curses and walked off towards the room, seeing my siblings had already left. I sighed softly and walked to the closet, pulling out my uniform and quickly stripping out of my pajamas and changing.

I walked back into the living room where Hitoshi was standing, holding a picture in his hand with a curious look in his eyes. I peeked at the picture and frowned. It was a picture of my mom. We looked very much a like. Same hair colour, eyes, ears, and tail. I grabbed the picture from him and set it down on the end table.

"Is that your mom?" He asked, looking at me curiously as I put on my shoes.

"Yep," I replied, "Hikawa Etsuka, otherwise known as Kit the Hero," I informed. "I plan on having my hero name being Kit," I grinned as I stood up.

Hitoshi looked at me for a moment, his eyes holding almost a hostile look. I remember telling him I got into hero courses. I was so happy, until I learned that he didn't. "Kaede," I looked at him in surprise; he never said my first name, "Promise that you won't change," He spoke in such a serious tone in sent shivers done my spine.

But, nonetheless, I smiled at him. I giggled softly and walked over to him, "Now why would I change, Hitoshi? Hm?" I teased with a smile on my lips.

His cheeks tinted a red colour as I called him by his first name. He looked away from me and rubbed his neck sheepishly before speaking, "I heard that usually people get more cocky once they enter the hero courses," He informed.

I laughed and wrapped my arms around him tightly, feeling his body stiffen beneath me. It wasn't the first time I hugged Hitoshi, and it certainly wasn't the first time he tensed up because of it, "Relax, Shinso. I won't change," I stepped back and held up my pinky finger, "I promise," I grinned up at him.

He looked at me, with pink cheeks, before locking his pinky finger around mine. I smiled widely and spoke, "C'mon, Shinso. We don't want to be late, do we?" I asked with a smile.

He shook his head and followed me out the door.

"You can call me Hitoshi, if you'd like," Hitoshi informed suddenly, looking down at my.

At this, my ears shot upwards and I looked at him excitedly, "R-Really!?" I exclaimed happily.

He chuckled softly and nodded, "Yes, we've already established this best friend status, so I figure its only fair," He replied.

I let out an excited squeal, "Yay! Thank you so much, Hitoshi! This means a lot to me," I smiled very brightly as I looked up at him, bowing to show my thankfulness.

Hitoshi seemed surprised by this and his cheeks reddened as he looked away from me, "Whatever, j-just straighten up, will you?" He murmured.

I quickly fixed my posture and looked up at him, "Y-You can call me Kaede, you know," I informed, smiling up at him.

He simply shook his head, "How will you know if I'm being serious, then?" He questioned.

I went to replied, but nothing came out. Hitoshi had a point. He only ever said my first name if he was being serious. I let out a defeated whine, resulting in a chuckle from him. "Fine, call me whatever you wish," I pouted.

I looked down at my feet as we walked together in a comfortable silence, all up until I heard tires screeching. I felt myself being jerked backwards and landing on top of someone. When I opened my eyes, I realized that Hitoshi had a strong grasp on me. Out chests heaved up and down in panic.

"Watch where you going dumb fucks!" The driver snapped before driving off.

Hitoshi let his arms fall to his side and I quickly scrambled off of him, my cheeks red. Hitoshi looked at me with a serious, yet worried, look, "Are you okay?" He asked.

I quickly nodded as he sat up, "A-Are you okay, S- Hitoshi?" I asked quietly, my heart slamming against my chest.

Hitoshi was on his feet as he looked at me, holding his hand out for me. "I'm fine," He informed, pulling me to my feet. He looked at me, frowning slightly as he turned my palm over, revealing the scrape I had gotten while falling, "Be more careful, Hikawa," He murmured quietly.

I nodded my head as we continued talking. I had no idea what happened. Last I remembered we were still on the sidewalk while walking, no where near the road. Maybe I dazed off and we got to a crosswalk faster then I expected.

"He was drunk," Hitoshi suddenly informed, as if reading my mind.

"Huh?" I looked up at him.

"He. Was. Drunk," He repeated himself slowly," He probably thought we were closer then we really were and tried to swerve around us, only to nearly kill you," He informed.

"O-Oh," I murmured, "How did we fall then," I asked, looking at him.

His cheeks flushed and I started grinning, already knowing the answer, "You tripped," I giggled, answering for him.

"Shut up," He muttered, looking away from me.
