I race towards my old home. Cantanena holds many memories for me.
It's nearly half ten by the time we get there. It's dark, we have no place to sleep.
"Guys, get out." We do, and we walk to a hotel. They give us a small room, half of us end up sleeping on the floor.
In the middle of the night Elyssa comes over to me.
"John, I'm afraid. I'm scared Zeph is already dead."
"He isn't dead, because dowsing still works. If he was dead, we'd both know." Elyssa begins to cry, so I pull her into a hug.
"He can't remember though. That might cost his life."
"I know. I know."
Elyssa falls asleep in my arms, and eventually, I do too.
