The Wolfpack sat in the caverns, laughing to themselves as they waited for Lokan to announce another leader in his place.
"You sure you want this nut job in our pack Nate?"
Nate chuckled. "I had no idea my brother had changed this much, he was always the more playful between us, but nothing like this."
Jynx shuttered. "I never want to go in there again."
Anu smirked. "Oh, Lord of Chaos doesn't like all the attention?"
He glared. "I prefer to stay away from crowds thank you very much."
The bloodwolf flopped onto his side. "Well I don't like crowds either but they allow for great hunting."
Anya shot him another glance. "Know what you are? You are morbid."
"Sorry, I am Vengeance, not morbid, though I like that too, maybe I'll change it."
"You're impossible!"
"Impossible? Oh thank you I never knew I wasn't possible before."
Cleo gently tapped Anu with her paw.
He shut his mouth but grinned at Anya with satisfaction.
Nate looked back at Jynx. "Yes, I want my brother in the pack. I haven't seen him in so long and he would be incredibly useful once he-" Nate thought a moment. "-calms down."
"We know you don't have to be scared anymore." Melody gently played with his mane. He rested his head as she rubbed his ears.
"I wasn't scared." He muttered. "Just concerned."
Anya flicked her tail. "You were definitely scared."
He responded with a stubborn growl.
"Back to the topic at hand; Lokan. If he is anything as I remembered him, he will act silly on the surface but barely beneath is a strong and intelligent wolf who takes matters seriously."
"So, he is not all 'worship chaos' all the time?"
"Not at all. That is if he is the same wolf I knew so long ago."
As they spoke the supermoon halera walked in to stand with them. He kept up a noble appearance, looking at them individually. "If you wish me to join this pack, I will accept."
Nate gave a slow nod.
Lokan looked from Jynx to Nate. "It is an honor to join the pack of chaos." His eyes stopped on Nate a long while. "And a, -relief to finally see my brother again."
Nate raised his head, pulling himself to a sitting stance. "It is a relief to see you too brother."
Lokan's keen eyes scanned over Anu and Cleo. They locked on Cleo in particular before shooting back to Nate. He took a commanding stance and looked over the pack. "I would like to talk to my brother alone for a moment, you can begin your traveling again, wherever it may be. We can catch up."
Melody stood up nervously as Nate took his full stance. Nate watched the pack and raised his mane tall. "If you do anything to hurt her, I will know immediately, and I won't hold back anything this time." He glared at Anu in particular, who only smirked. Cleo nudged him and he bowed his head respectfully. "Of course."
With that the two supermoon wolves walked down another cavern and Melody walked with the remainder of the pack back to the exit.
"I'll need that scent again." Anu stepped close to her, Melody felt her back tighten as his warm breath swept down her neck. "Perfect."
Anu sat and closed his eyes, analyzing the smells and looking perplexed. He groaned in frustration before standing again. "Nimera has a blocking shield on her. I will need to track manually. Where did you see her last Melody?"
"At a cavern, not far from Valia's tree fortress, closer to the black trees. A lelivilian showed me to her."
"Lelivilian?" Cleo tilted her head.
"Long-legged lizards, that was the first meal I brought you."
She nodded in understanding, though her visual of the creature was badly mauled.
"We have a direction then. Let's get moving."
The wolves began migrating at a quick speed, out of the tunnels and back to the beautiful landscape outside. Their eyes adjusted immediately but Melody had to squint a while first. There are few advantages to being human.
The scenery was undeniably beautiful, the willows hiding the entrance and the water flowing in gentle pools. It reminded Melody on the first time Nate had taken her out into the woods as a wolf. He was so clueless then; thinking hunting unicorns was a good way to impress her. While it did show off his strength it did not send the right message. He had grown so much since then.
"Hey Melody."
She turned to see the blood wolf looking back at her with his bright eyes. She gave a nod in response.
"Your feet will get tired very fast, and you're slowing us down. Time to get a ride."
She looked at her option of wolves. She did not know any of them well enough to feel comfortable, besiding maybe Cleo who would only support her for so long.
Anu rolled his eyes and walked up to her, crouching low. "Hurry up then, I promised not to bite you and I'll be better at keeping it if I can't see you."
She wasn't exactly comfortable with it but knew he was right. When facing a blood wolf the safest place to be was directly on his back. She had enough experience mounting Nate that climbing onto Anu was easy.
His crimson mane and long fur quickly covered her, far faster than Nate's mane would. Nate was long-haired, but not shaggy like this. He was also far warmer, barely on the edge of a comfortable temperature. She knew if he ever got angry he would be boiling. Good thing he wasn't angry.
"You comfortable? Better be cause I don't care. While you're up there play with my ears or something. I don't give rides for free. Now let's move!"
Soon as Melody was on, the wolves picked up their pace and rushed towards an unseen destination.
Jynx and Anya started howling, Cleo joined in. Melody felt his throat and chest vibrate underneath her to let out a rough and gravely howl. It wasn't sonorous and smooth like Nate's but husky and somewhat coarse. She found it to be beautiful and even attractive. She laughed to herself at the thought, letting a mock howl into the air to join the voices.
"Blue moon here we come!"
