Love and Vengance

The hunt went incredibly well, a little too well. A whole herd of odd creatures ran frightened from hallucinogenic dragons right into the deadly claws of two massive butchers. The half brothers were effective, but their methods very different.
Nate simply overpowered his prey, killing them as quickly as possible.
Anu however, found far more joy in destruction. He took his time on each and every creature, breaking unnecessary bones, twisting tails and pulling open the skin.
They were all grateful when the prey were out of their misery.
Anya glared at Anu with intensity as they pulled the prey back. She ate with disgust to find half of her meals entirely drained of blood. She felt in him no remorse, nothing at all. When she felt out for his emotions she found a wall, like a cage. Anger, annoyance, bitterness and all sorts of emotions scattered within the wall, but more frightening was the wide expanse of numbness. He had blocked out almost all the emotions she would see before.
When he was cruel, his emotions were full of bittersweet enjoyment. She found it disgusting. She wished she could just take over and fix his rotten heart, but while it was possible it was against her code. Anya was powerful, and she knew how corrupting power was. Her abilities with emotions meant she could see how twisted they became.
She had promised herself to never become twisted. Never like Anu, and never like Fade. She shuddered at the thought, eyes drifting over to Jynx.
When she had met Jynx he was not the free wolf he was now. He was only a shadow, like Edit was for Jynx. Fade had been the base Eclipse, and used Jynx like a puppet. Since a shadow can be recast, Fade had no concern if Jynx died. There was no limit to the pain he could be put through, no limit to the tricks to be played.
Fade had used his powers for evil. Power to him became everything, he became cruel. If it hadn't been for her help, Jynx may have never escaped.
Thankfully, Jynx had vowed to never use his power to abuse as Fade did, and to prove it, he named his own shadow Edit. After thousands of years of the Eclipse leaning towards corruption, Jynx finally brought the right back.
Anya smiled to herself at this thought, there was hope after all.
Sadly, her hope began to shrivel again after every hunt.
How could Anu be so evil? How was it possible to pack so much fear into one's prey? If it wasn't so wrong, it would almost be impressive. Again she was tempted to take control, change his mind from the inside.
Still, she kept herself calm. She was better than that, better than to simply corrode what she didn't like away with force. All she could do was give him a warning growl to keep him in check.
As the wolfpack traveled, her annoyance grew. They were close to civilization, only a day or two's worth. She told herself again that this was just one more hunt, she could keep herself calm until then. Just one more hunt.
Even then her patience grew thin as a thread.
Thin as the thread Anu stretched in between his claws, taking his time to break the sensitive vein in the poor creature's neck.
The new moon wolf could feel the intense fear rise, rise until it was deafening. Even as she pushed her will forward the fear grew.
It was too much for her.
Anya rushed to Anu and quickly snapped the prey's neck, putting a fast end to it. Clenching her teeth as she felt the stinging linger in the air, she looked up to him in her angriest glare.
"You ruined all the fun." Anu chuckled, pushing the dead animal onto it's back.
"I can't believe you!" Anya growled at him for the hundredth time. "I've never met someone so content with being horrible. How can you live with the dead souls of all you killed haunting you?!"
Anu flicked his tail. "The trick is to scar them so badly that they are too scared to haunt you."
"Listen, Anu, I know you have problems but I still can't comprehend your actions."
"Do you really want to know?"
"It will drive me insane until I do."
Anu sighed and folded his ears back, laying down. "There is a reason why I do this, why I am so content to destroy the world. It goes back to before the scientists ever found me."
Anya sensed the change in mood, sitting next to him patiently while he began his anecdotal.
"I didn't used to be a troubled kid, all I wanted was to learn and fit in somehow. No matter how hard I tried I could never succeed at being good. I remember watching the movies and reading the stories about heroes and villains, the heroes were always revered and trusted, they were the stars that could do no wrong. I was a young boy and wanted to be just like them, be Superman. Yet the more I read those stories and looked at my own life, the more I realized I could never be a hero at all. Everyone in my life looked at me with concern, fear and mistrust. They couldn't predict my actions anymore than I could. They looked at me like a villain. The Doctors were the only men kind enough to treat me like a hero.
"It was when I was with the scientists that I looked again at myself. I was a villain again. I decided if I was going to be treated like a villain, that's what I would be. I was certain that when I died I would go to hell. I realized that when I died my greatest influence would die with me. I figured then, that if I was going there anyway and I would die anyway, I may as well send down as many villains as I can first. I was going to die and I was taking them down with me.
I decided this and that is what sparked my plans that finally rid me of the scientists and set me free. I know I am not a good creature, that I am a demon of the worst kind, there is little I can do to change that. However, being a monster means I don't have to be heroic to take down my enemies, I can kill as I wish. I have nothing to lose because I'm just as rotten as they are."
Anu turned and looked at Anya. "I will rid this world of all the scientists and villains I find before I join them. I have no other reason to live. Do you understand?"
Anya nodded slowly, watching him. "No other reason?"
The blood wolf looked off. "That and I live to protect Cleo. She is the only proof to me good can exist. She is the only single thing I love and she must be protected. If she disappeared, I would not hesitate to destroy the rest of this world."
"You are only here for love and vengeance?"
Anu smirked. "Yes. Love and vengeance."
