Wolf pack

Lelivillian

A lanky green lizard reached his head up to the branches, using his tongue to pick off insects resting there. Finding all the easiest bugs having scattered away, he quickly ran over to the next, sweeping the bark clean.
"Parker!"
That was a name he had not heard for years.
The lelivillian turned his face to see four massive wolves and a familiar girl watching him. He moved his jaw and spoke in the lizards crackly hiss. "Melody?"
She nodded, leaning to the side of the largest red wolf, prompting him to crouch as she slid off and walked towards him. Parker eyed the wolves with caution.
"You brought friendss."
"Yes, the Wolfpack: Anu, Cleo, Jynx and Anya. At least those are who are here at the moment. That's why we came here."
The lizard's orange eyes scanned the pack before he quickly changed topic. "Glad to ssee you well. Vampiress are nassty beasts."
"Most of them. Anyway, we need your help."
Parker quickly turned his head. "Like how I helped you before, but again."
"Well, yes, just like that."
"We sshould catch up firsst! Of coursse, you all musst be tired come with me."
Anu frowned, watching the lizard's every move as he guided them off towards an opening between the trees, tall grass sticking up in a large patch.
"There, ssee a nice place to resst."
Melody didn't hesitate to sit in the foliage, but Anu stood outside it and surveyed Parker. He was intentionally changing the topic away from Nimera. It was obvious and Anu didn't like it.
"We came here for a reason, not to visit." He grumbled.
Parker twisted his long body around a branch like a vine, one long limb hanging down. "Of course. We all have purposess don't we?"
"We want to find Nimera. That is our purpose."
The lizard's face twisted uncomfortably. "And my purposse is to explore and protect thiss beautiful world."
Anu's eyes slanted. "The only thing beautiful in this world is my Queen of Hearts, and I am already protecting her."
Jynx, on que pulled out a card from thin air, Anu slapped it aside and pulled his arm around Cleo. "So your purposse iss void." Anu purposefully hissed his words at the lizard, mimicking his speech.
Parker only twisted again to look up at the tree. "Beauty meanss different to all of uss. For example, I think thessse treess are lovely, and I think the ssky is pretty, and I-"
"How about a white werewolf?" Anya spoke softly.
The lelivillian closed his eyes. "Oh yess, sshe iss lovely and beautiful." His eyes flashed open as he looked back over at the New Moon and Eclipse. He stared a while and shook his head. "Mind gamess!" He hissed. "I know no white wolf!"
Anya looked him right in the eyes. "Yes, you do."
The lizard's face twisted again and he uncurled himself from the branches and stood on his feet.
"I have to go, go do ssomething."
Melody stood. "You are coming back of course?"
"Yesss, yesss I'll be back before long, I jusst have to-" Parker immediately started off in a random direction, clearly only wanting to stay any longer than he had.
He did not get far, stopping right as a massive black wolf stepped in his way.
Nate looked down at the lelivillian, and back to the pack. "Excuse me."
The lizard looked in shock at the super wolf in front of him he had never seen a werewolf anywhere near this size, then over at the largest Halera he had ever seen.
The shock was enough that Nate easily nudged him back to the others, the lizard sitting like an obedient dog in the center of the wolfpack.
Nate nudged Melody with his muzzle and curled around her so only her head was visible through the black fur. Anya smiled at the sight and booped him on the nose with her paw. Nate only blinked and ignored her.
Lokan sniffed the Lelivillain curiously. "Ah, almost had a deserter? The only deserter here should be Cleo cause she's a desert Halera, get it? Or, or maybe he's a desserter. Like a snack? Get it?"
Anya closed her silver eyes and sighed. "We get your lame humor. There will be no eating him."
The lelivillian looked no less nervous. She rolled her eyes and walked forward, using her paw to push Lokan away via his face. She eyed the frightened lizard, breathing on him softly until his eyes closed and she felt his entire body relax. Maybe he was too relaxed, because Parker fell asleep.
That sent Jynx off. "Great going, absolutely splendid, fantastic! He is ASLEEP!"
Anya only had to look at him for a second. "I have eyes dear."
Lokan sniffed the lizard, using his paw to lift his head then dropping it and laughing. "He's out!"
Cleo let out a yawn. "Perhaps now would be a good time to settle down and rest then?"
Anu grunted but nodded. "I suppose rest is important for some."
"We have been traveling all day long."
Nate didn't move, only closing his golden eyes and relaxing.
Anya walked over to Jynx and lay down, Anu pulled Cleo in close to himself.
Lokan looked at the pairs, laying down where he was next to the lelivillian. Lokan had a entire area of tropics he ruled over, a nation that bowed to his will, he even had caves filled with treasures to his name. Yet being a king did not automatically come with a queen. The others, in his mind, were peasants. Even Cleo had a barren land to rule in comparison. However, they all had love and each other. If he wanted at any time he could have demanded a mate, and yet it would not be the same. They had love when he did not. In that way, he supposed, they were richer than he could ever be.
As the night before, Anya and Jynx started howling soon as the sun began to set. Lokan joined in immediately, as did Cleo. Anu joined once Cleo nudged him.
Nate was reminded of his nightly howls with his own pack. He hadn't howled or sang since.
It was a bittersweet feeling, but he finally raised his nose in the air and let out his low and handsome voice.
He didn't think it would have been possible, but he sang again with his pack.
