Edit followed his orders, and after a quick report Jynx was on his way, Lokan trailing behind.
Moving quickly from the streets to alleyways they found the two men there: one dressed in scrubs and lanyard, the other in leather jacket and boots.
Anu stood there, clearly ready to explode any moment, his blood was boiling, his face was red and his fingers crushing the bones in the scientist's arms.
It would get uglier very fast if they waited.
Jynx came forward, snapping a fire between the two men. While Anu had no fear of fire, it was startling enough he loosened his grip.
Lokan quickly moved into place, pulling Anu into a restraint, almost getting a black eye and many words in the process.
The scientist, exhausted from the whole ordeal immediately crumbled to the ground, taking in deep breaths as he sat, leaning against the wall.
Jynx immediately turned to the man, kneeling in from of him and looking him over.
The damage was relatively small considering Anu, fractures in the arms and deep burns. He had blood coming from his shoulder, a bite and venom apparent.
While Anu cooled down deeper in the alleyway, Jynx looked into the man's eyes. They were fearful and tired.
As they looked glossily to his they seemed to widen in wonder.
Once bright, green eyes were replaced by these, even more unnatural. Blue eyes that glowed from behind the pupil, a ring bright around a dark pit that stared unblinking at him.
What was this creature? In all his years at the labs, he had seen nothing like this.
The calm man before the scientist took a quick turn, and before he knew it he could feel fangs again in his shoulder. This was different, it was not pure pain like before but more like an intrusion. Something more magical moved right from his blood into his mind.
It hurt, but soon the pain seemed to fade as he looked exhausted back into those eyes. Through misty vision he could see the glow. That glow became brighter and everything changed.
He was waking up from a bad dream. Only a dream! Flickers of memory in the alley flashed by: a snatching, burning, bite with toxins in his veins; all fading away into this new reality.
He sat up dizzily in bed, blinking the nightmare away. He had nearly forgotten his time at the labs, but it seems a few memories returned in his dreams. A twinge of guilt came to him and then quickly faded. Those monsters were not human, he told himself, I have nothing to feel bad for.
Sitting up and moving out of bed, he carried out the normal routine and got ready for work.
Only a dream- what a relief!
The routine continued and he started off diving to work. Muscle memory, it seemed, took him there. It was almost dreamy as he walked into the emergency room. Ready to perform his work.

Patients of all kinds came in and his hands quickly moved to solve the problem. Cuts were mended and bones put back into place.
A sudden pain seemed to break the illusion. His arms hurt, they HURT!
He blinked back, looking around at the room as the doctors around him stared at him in confusion, what was wrong?
He looked at his arms. They looked fine, but they felt like they were on fire! They felt wet. As he stared at his arms he watched them change. Reality was pouring in, his skin started to peel and cuts emerge from wounds deep inside his muscle. In horror, he did what he was trained to do.
He was not a surgeon for nothing. Taking some of the supplies he was using on a patient a moment later, he set to work on repairing the wound. Painkillers close at hand, he rushed about the room, taking them quickly and turning to the staff around him. "Help me, do you not see this?"
He tried to hold up his arms but quickly found the pain growing and the bones inside creaking. Moving them was a bad idea. That pain only grew, painkillers doing nothing.
The staff all looked at each other, then back at him a moment before continuing on to help the patient already present.
What was going on? Why wouldn't they help him?
Seeking to cry out again, he was surprised to find blood coming from his throat, and the cry turned into a cough.
What is happening? What is happening?
The broken, bleeding and pain deepened as the burning came. He was burning! Burning but there was no fire.
Something was in his veins!
Horrified he called out again, receiving no response.
Why wouldn't they help him? What was happening?
All too overwhelmed, the man found himself collapsing on his floor, back against cabinets that help equipment that could help him if he only had access.
What is this? Why wont they help me? What is happening?
