Melody could barely believe the stories she heard from Cleo. It almost seemed too wild to be true, but as she looked at Anu it was not surprising. There was an intensity to him she could barely begin to understand. Those deep scars and fierce eyes held secrets and stories she knew were frightening. Their first encounter was still burned in her mind. Those green eyes gazing down at her, a voice so dark yet gentle telling her to calm herself. His calming voice was perhaps the most frightening part of that entire encounter.
Nate was getting his own explanation, but only after he was restrained. He had wanted so badly to tear Anu apart that Anya and Jynx had to hold him back while Anu tried to reason with him. The conversation grew heated, but in the end Nate finally closed his decision.
"I can't run off to some pack. I need to protect Melody."
Anu let his blood cool, looking off towards Cleo and Melody chatting back and forth. "I understand your concern. I have Cleo. It may seem like a selfish decision because it is different than your views on protection, but believe me, having a pack is more powerful than one wolf. Even a supermoon like you."
Nate showed his teeth but his expression softened. "How can I trust she will be safe with you around."
"She has shown no need to suffer. I have no need to torture the innocent."
"You are a blood wolf."
Anu's eyes drifted off as he smirked to himself. "How about this, if she gets injured, let me heal it and I will be satisfied. No harm will come to her."
Nates eyes flickered. "Or I could kill you now and I am ensured she if safe. Want me to join your pack? My answer is-"
Melody and Cleo excitedly returned, embracing their partners.
"This is perfect Nate! I'll have even more protection so you can rest better. You wont need to watch your back and hunt all the time. Joining this pack sounds like a brilliant idea."
"It will be great to have my friend with me." Cleo grinned at Nate.
Nate looked at Anu with his mouth open, a look of irritation and defeat in his eyes.
Anu's smirk spread, a large fang sticking out. "What was your answer again?"
Glancing at Cleo, then at Melody, Nate turned his head back to Anu and straightened his posture. "Of course. It would be a delight to join your pack."
As Cleo and Melody began chatting excitedly again, Nate grumbled low at Anu. "Couldn't be happier."
