A New Home

Lokan knocked excitedly on the door. "Hey, I got prizes for you all!"
There was a long pause, then the door opened. Jynx and Anya stood there, looking somewhat out of place. Their hair was a mess and so was a majority of the room. Lokan didn't think on it.
He carefully maneuvered his full arms to toss plush animals over to them. Jynx took the ghost plushy and smirked at it.
Anya received one of her own. It was a pokemon toy with halo markings, an Umbreon.
Before they could react Lokan had already swung open the other door in the hallway.
Nate and Melody had returned, and were sitting together on the bed, wrapping up a conversation.
Nimera appeared across from them.
Upon their arrival, Fay turned and smiled at them, sitting in the middle of multiple matched pictures. "Hey look, I won!"
Lokan tossed a smiley face pillow to her. "Here's to the winner!"
"Yay!"

Morning came with a knock at the door. Anya and Jynx scrambled to appear presentable before opening it.
There stood Anu and Cleo.
"Where were you?" Jynx looked at Anu suspiciously. He got the smallest whiff of a memory and dropped the thought. "Anyways, welcome back. We were worried about you too."
"Actually, we didn't come to stay."
Anya looked at Anu in confusion. Was he going to leave the pack? No, that didn't feel right.
Anu ignored their looks and walked to the door in between, opening it up to see the other half of the pack. They all looked relieved to see them safe.
Melody nearly ran to Cleo. "Where were you two?"
Anu waved it away. "Just on a short side-adventure. We found a better place to live."
Jynx and Anya had come behind them. "Another hotel?"
"No." Cleo said quietly. "We own a house."
Melody looked at them in surprise. "You bought a house?"
"Not exactly." Anu smirked.
He could feel Jynx peering into his head, he shot a glare and Jynx stopped.
Nate looked at Anu suspiciously. The look Anu returned was dangerous and unregretful. It confirmed his thoughts.
Nate's expression grew into a stern glare.
Anu's smirk confirmed that he didn't care in the least.
Lokan broke the mood, throwing a stuffed animal at Anu's head. "Hey! Where were you guys?"
Anu considered punching Lokan in the face, but instead cooled his breath. "Not your business." He paused. "But we did find a nice place we can move the pack to. It's a nice house further in town. It has more room for all of us and we can keep our privacy."
Anu snapped at Jynx to get his attention. "Hey, you can show them for me."
Jynx focused on an image in Anu's mind, and pushed it out onto the wall.
It was a very large house, surrounded by trees and with a small amount of property. It must have been owned by someone wealthy.
The sight of it further confirmed suspicions.
"When should we move out?" Melody asked.
"May as well do it now. There isn't too much to move." Cleo started back towards the other room to gather her things.
The rest of the pack followed the motion, gathering what little belongings they had.
Melody looked at the window, thinking. Would there ever be a home for her? This was almost home. Almost.
She sighed, looking back to the room and gathering her things. Nate put his arm around her, kissing her lightly on the forehead. There was a hundred things he wanted to say to her. He wanted to tell her they'd find a place, that he'd even find work it needed. He would stay in this form, if just to help her. He wished he could give her a steady home. Hopefully, this next place would be home.
Hopefully.
The van was loaded, and Jynx walked to the front desk to cancel their room.

The new house was massive. Melody looked about at the decorations and the awards. It was apparent immediately this house was not purchased.
"Cecil Groman." Anu pointed out the obvious. "Was not a great man. However, he was a wealthy man."
Anya glared at him. "I thought you said you weren't going to go after him."
Anu waved it aside. "Never said that."
"We werent going to kill him." Cleo muttered. "Not at first.."
"What happened here?" Melody looked into a room that was not as clean as the others.
"We simply wanted more information from him. He attacked me. We attacked back."
"Welp, can't change the past! Look at this place!" Fay looked around excitedly. "There are ceilings here and everything!"
"There were ceilings at the hotel too." Nimera faintly whispered.
"Well duh!"
The entire place was explored within half an hour.
In the end, they all sat in the living room and near the kitchen.
"What's for lunch?" Lokan started looking through the pantries.
Anu made a smile that Melody didn't know what to think of. Without speaking, he left the room, walking into what appeared to be a walk- in fridge behind the kitchen wall.
Melody didn't even see what was in there, but somehow she knew and her stomach started to turn. She looked to Nate.
His eyes followed Anu with hunger, but then his eyes drifted back to Melody. He could sense her concern.
He stood up and took Melody by the hand.
"Let's go out to eat."
Jynx stood and handed Nate cash, then walked over to the closet to help Anu.
Melody was grateful to leave the house as the wolves in the other room eagerly awaited their meal.
