"The world is our territory now!" Anu exclaimed to his pack. "No limits on us anymore! No hiding! This is what we waited for, now let's go kill something!"
It was not the normal speech before a hunt, but it would have to do.
The Wolfpack headed out, sniffing down potential prey. With their combined tracking, finding prey was easy.
They approached a herd of creatures Melody did not recognize. It was fascinating what could be seen on the back of a werewolf. Humans had difficulty spotting magical creatures, likewise the werewolves could rarely find the creatures she considered normal.
These appeared to be large rats with antlers on their heads and long, shaggy fur. They moved in a slouch, heads low to the ground.
Anu, leading as he always did, looked back to them. "Now, battleplan. We need to spread around they prey, trap them in. If you can't capture, injuring works well enough. They can't go far if they are hurt. All of you can focus on circling the creatures and scaring them towards me and Nate. We can slaughter the lot of them. Any questions?"
Lokan and Jynx looked at each other. They shared a mutual grin.
"CHARGE!" Lokan started full sprint towards the creatures, making them all immediately raise their heads in alarm.
Jynx cast Edit, and the illusion followed Lokan in the sprint.
Anu and Nate shared a groan, Anya just covered her face.
The hunt didn't go as planned, but in the end seven wolves and a girl ate meat by a fire. Melody appreciated they took the time to make a fire for her to cook.
The wolves tried to stay fairly close. They barely even noticed when Anya had slipped away. Jynx was soon to follow.
It was Anu who picked up on the absence. After pulling out all the hearts for Cleo, he gently kissed her forehead and walked off to sort out the deserters. There would be no leaving in his pack. He was unsure how to run a pack, but as his first he was sure a rule was to stay in sight.
Moving silently, Anu searched on after them.
Jynx was not far off, crouching behind a rock with only his eyes and nose visible on the other side. Anu didn't know how Jynx thought he was hiding, since his eyes glowed.
The eclipse noticed him, nudging him over. "Shh, duck!"
Anu quickly climbed behind the rock with Jynx, having to lay down to hide his body. "We just hunted, you don't need to stalk."
Jynx shushed him again, resting his head back on the rock.
Anu rolled his eyes and followed suit. That's when he saw her.
There was Anya, a distance away. She was exploring the area, silver eyes sharp and calm at once as she wandered.
The blood wolf had a heart for none else, but he had to admit she was beautiful in her own sassy, stubborn way. Her silky black fur shimmered and sparkled with the numberless lights of the night sky.
Cleo was still far prettier in his mind.
"What are you doing?" Anu muttered to Jynx.
A slow grin spread on the wolf's face. "I'm stargazing."
"It's during the day."
He responded dreamily. "I know."
Anu took the occasion to push him over as loud as he could.
Anya's head quickly whipped their way. Anu pointed down to the fallen wolf on his side, rolled his eyes again and walked back towards the fire. Perhaps letting the members have their own free time was advised.
Once the entire pack was gathered again at the fire, Anya took the opportunity to speak up. "Alright, so we are all here now. That is great, now what?"
Lokan grinned. "We cause some chaos!"
The looks around him quickly shut his idea down.
"Seriously though, game plan."
Jynx yawned widely. "It's always business with you, can't you just sit down and relax."
"Relaxing is how you met me darling, and you know how well that turned out."
Jynx closed his mouth quickly, smirking to himself.
"This is the first time we've all been with other phase wolves. I say we test our abilities, explore what we can do. We are a force to be reckoned with." Anu grinned with his fangs. "Any enemies you all wish to take out? Been a while since I had a good assassination."
Nate stood, head and shoulders above the rest. "I know you all want to explore the land and try out new things, but I made a promise." The black wolf turned his golden eyes over to Melody. "I promised my sweetheart that we would head to civilization. She has been away from humans and alone for a long time now. We may be wolves and accustomed to the wild, she is not." He looked out over the pack. "Whether you choose to stay here or not, I intend to keep my promise."
Melody nodded thankfully. She felt so much like a pet just tagging along for the ride. She had stayed silent because she wasn't even sure if she had a voice with them. She was glad to be represented.
Anya's silver eyes scanned Melody, feeling her sadness. Anya was tempted to change that, to push her own will into the girl's head and change her mind. It would be very easy to. However, her conscience was better than that. Unlike Anu or Jynx, she leaned herself to the good side.
Anya could sense the emotions in the group. Not many would agree. Anu seemed to have near hatred of the idea for reasons she would have to explore. Nimera's mind went instantly to fear. Cleo seemed Anxious at the change of lifestyle and the others didn't seem very excited about it.
Melody would need help.
Taking a deep breath and letting her influence spread, Anya faced the pack. "Listen. Though we are new we are still a pack. Melody may not be a wolf, but she is as much a part of us as the rest. Anu, you would do anything for Cleo, what if she wanted to leave to a new place and we refused to let her?"
"I'd kill all of you." He spoke without hesitation.
"A bit stronger than I thought, but I like your enthusiasm. See Nate made a promise. Who are we to make him break it? Besides, sightseeing the idiotic humans would be a fun vacation for a while." Anya felt her magic working, the emotions having all flipped almost completely. Agreement and support mixed with an assurance that the emotions were their own. Even Jynx nodded.
Feeling her work was done, Anya sat back down next to Jynx.
The silence settled in as the pack thought about the change.
It was when Anu stood again, looked at Cleo and spoke that Anya knew she had succeeded. "It is our duty as members of Nate and Melody's pack to follow them to a new location." He looked out over the pack with conviction. "Besides, paying the humans a visit could be fun." He ended with a fanged smile.
Anya started to wonder what she had just done.
