The feeling was like being ripped forcefully out of a dream, and the Wolfpack found themselves back in the hotel room.
Flashbacks were not uncommon, but this was so much deeper.
Jynx stood there, grinning at the standing group all blinking in shock.
The wall that was once vivid images was now a few flickers that disappeared back into Jynx's hand.
"I think that's enough for one day." Jynx yawned. "How about that for a magic trick?"
Lokan blinked and stared at Jynx. "That was awesome!"
Jynx only bowed.
Not as playful were the reactions of the remainder of the Wolfpack. They looked at Jynx and Fay with more respect as they were able to finally understand what they have been through.
Before anyone could say anything, Lokan jumped forward again. "Okay, talent show! What can you all do!"
He received a bit of a glare, but kept on going anyway.
"Fay, you're lucky right?"
She nodded lightly.
He grinned brightly. "What about BAD luck?"
Anya shot him another glare. "Lokan, no."
Jynx rested his hand on her shoulder. "Why not?"
Everyone looked at him in surprise, he only shrugged. "Look at us, comon. Don't you think a little bad luck is something we could handle?"
As they looked around themselves, they didn't want to admit how much truth they felt in the statement. The mixture of powers and ability was incredible. It would truly take a challenge to put the pack into any danger.
"My life has been a series of bad luck. This wouldn't be any different."
Anya only shook her head again. "No."
"Just a little bit of bad luck?"
"No."
"Not a lot, just a little. We can handle a challenge."
Fay looked at Lokan, Jynx and Anu carefully. "A little bad luck can go a long ways."
"If it gets out of hand, you can just reverse it, right?"
Fay was silent a moment, then nodded. "I could."
Taking a deep breath, her eyes dilated for a moment, and a light tremor filled the room. It was gone soon as it came.

"C'mon then." Anu started towards the door. "Let's go out and see if we what demons are out there."
Jynx and Lokan started out with him.
Before any others could come, Anu turned at the door. "I suggest the rest of you stay in here. We asked for this so may as well be us. Fay, keep an eye on them please."
"Of course!" Her cheary temperament was back, and she shut the door behind them as they left.
"I only cursed those three anyway." She laughed slightly.
"Let's hope those idiots don't get themselves killed." With that Anya walked to the other side of the room and shut the door.
Cleo watched nervously out the window until Anya carefully led her back to bed. "They can be idiots sometimes. But they are able to defend themselves. You need to rest."
Cleo knew she was right, so looked out the window one more time before letting Anya's gentle influence guide her to sleep.
Nimera vanished again, hidden under the mysterious shield.
Nate sat there and thought to himself. Everyone had a story. It became clear over and over that no matter what he would go through, there was always worst. He couldn't help but look over and see Melody was thinking the same thing. It was an uncomfortable feeling.
She sat there, leaning on her pillow the bed over, writing intently in her journal. So much had happened, and she was not shy to record it all. Someday, he supposed she would be a great writer.
He couldn't help but to watch her. It may have been foolish, but he missed her. They had been traveling together so long, and only recently had that spark been ignited that could have been lit so long ago. Not that they finally were together, they were no longer close. Selfish maybe, but he sometimes wished they could be alone again.
"Hey." Not the most eloquent way to get her attention.
She blinked, looking over and smiling at him.
At least it worked. "Hey... do you want to come here?"
Melody paused only a moment, then grabbed her journal and walked over, taking Lokan's place next to Nate.
He carefully pulled her into himself, making sure she was comfortable.
"Okay. You can keep writing now."
She gently kissed his cheek, then started again.
It felt good to have her close again. He couldn't describe it, but he couldn't help but feel that his time with her was short. She is good. Good things never seemed to last.
She finished, and he sighed, fully prepared for her to go again.
Instead, she put her journal to the side and crawled into his lap. He was surprised, but pleasantly so. He wrapped his arms around her, relaxing as she sank into him.
Neither of them said something, and just lay there. As she started to drift off, he made no attempt to move her either. He was perfectly comfortable with this.
Finding her fast asleep, he gently pulled the blanket over her, kissed her forehead and let his mind drift off.
He was glad to have her back.
