Chapter Eighty-Nine

* D a r c y *

I have completely lost my noggin, utterly mindless. The fact that my mind has condemned unnecessary images; makes me curious to wonder if my mother has taught me well enough not to be so curious. Personally, one side head endures the feeling I am wanting to sense while the other says that it's foolish. Whether it's foolish or not, I am confused. I shall stop... really stop.

Walking inside my job was slightly hesitant, thinking whether to open the door. After what happen last night with my curiosity of Lances' little retort. That confident bastard. He's completely rubbish! He has no manner to think that I would keep staring at him because I know I won't.

Libby danced her way over to the front counter in her managers outfit even avoiding the strange look a teenager gave her. Libby just simply smiled.

"Do you want to get fired?" Lance, his voice I know so well now, scared me when he spoke next to me. Though, he sounded jittery when he playfully came towards my path. "Hmm?" He waved his hand in front of me. All I did was turn, catching what Libby has trashed in my mind, and felt awkward looking at him now.

I smiled but it wasn't a real significant smile but forced. "I just came." He smiled too but without teeth showing, giving me a small little push again. I wanted to cringe as his large hand had contact with my arm, but laughed - fake laughed.

"Yeah, I saw you from those doors," he pointed at the clear glass doors, "you were thinking, oh! should I come in... or should I not? You are so weird." He laughed, mocking me. It slightly offended me too.

I puffed a small air, setting my hand on the side of my hip. "You should really consider your manners since you barely even know me." I smile wide, bow, and walk to where I usually am placed. That took lots of courage which made me feel like a stronger girl. Head held high, and confidence shivered my pathway, turning to see Lance covering his mouth. Is he laughing at me? The shimmer turned dull, it evaporated in seconds. He must be a child.

Work was smooth and delicate. There was no stress or complaint. Peaceful for once and not wasted. Finally. At least not counting the evening. Once it was time to head out, I got my things and headed out in the ice cold. It was raining, pretty hard and I remembered. My umbrella is nicely set on my bed which I completely forgot to bring handy.

"I remember what you forgot, silly girl." Once again, there spoke Lance who poked my cheek, making me close my eyes to remain calm and not stress. "Your umbrella."

I nodded, took a deep breath and stepped forward. Drops, after drops shivered me as I opened my mouth. It was cold but it was my fault for not bringing a thing. My hands hugged my chest, hearing Lance shout my name in a gasp. I look up, and see him run towards me. Nothing was felt around me anymore but the shield of the umbrella underneath me and in front Lance.

"Are you fucking crazy?" He screamed. Four words, those four words sounded familiar. So damn familiar. But I knew and I was aware. I stood motionless looking down at the ground, as the rain continued pouring hard.

My eyes slowly met his strong light blue ones which made me blink so many times to capture the color whether it was real or not. "Sorry." Lance said, clearing his throat afterward. "I am truly sorry. You were getting drenched in seconds and well you are daring to go walk in this heavy rain."

I didn't respond but keep looking at him. A pinch of red escalated to his cheeks knowing he was blushing. With nothing being said, I stepped out of the umbrella and looked up at the clouded sky with eyes closed, smiling like a complete utter fool on the side of the cement. So idiotic that I can only imagine what my new co-workers will be thinking of me. It was dark, cold, and pouring. I looked back at Lance who looked at me as if I was crazy.
