Chapter Sixty-Four

* H a r r y *

Two hours after Darcy left, my mom entered to check on me, feeling my head just like Darcy did last night. To add from that night, it felt good - it truly felt magical when she was there right beside me through the night. And for right now, my heart finally began to beat happily. Little by little, every step at a time.

"Darcy was here with you all night." Speaks my mother. "Are you guys more than just mates?"

To be honest, I didn't know what to answer because I truly considered this a boyfriend and girlfriend type of thing. If I were to present her, or if someone would ever ask about us; I would freeze since it has been a long time I said a girl was my 'girlfriend' and saying it now feels fresh on the tip of my tongue.

My mother looks at me, waiting what I was going to say also looking beyond happy. "I don't know." I turn away from her gaze. "But I really, really like her." My mother squeaks of delight, clapping her hands obviously happy because I like someone again.

"Darcy." She happily sways and I feel the same.

"Mary." I correct her. "She's Mary."

My mother throws me a funny face, and touches my forehead again. "You sound fine, your temperature feels normal, and you look better. Get up, I made breakfast. You need to go to the uni." Groaning, I secretly hoped that Darcy was here to convince my mom to make me stay.

A couple of minutes after, I headed down stairs with light body ache. My nose was rather stuffy and my throat was scratchy which means I won't be able to sing in my choir class later in the day. As I made my way down to the dining area, I saw all my cousins eating and laughing already. I've only talked to my older male cousin but not the rest nor my uncles and aunties since they have arrived. It was an awkward vibe when I sat down the large table, eyeing everyone in the table with my dull expression.

"That girl that came yesterday, who was she?" Asked one of my aunties which honestly I had no clue what her name was.

My mother chimed in just in time to listen with a great smile. She waited on what I was going to say truthfully instead of an 'I don't know' and even to me, my thoughts went blind. Awkwardly shifting on my chair, I chuckled, looking down at the texture of my table. "She is a really good friend of mine."

"She looked worried." Said one of my female cousins, and I think her name is Poppy. "She's really pretty too."

"Yeah she is." I replied instantly, looking at Poppy and two my other cousins after her. "She and I are in the edge of getting more serious, I guess."

"Will you marry her?" Screamed my auntie with joy even though it was a question.

"No, don't be silly." My mother giggled. "Darcy, that is her name by the way, is a lovely young girl who is still going to high school. Harry met her almost two months ago at work."

"I saw her leaving out of your room." Said a male cousin - Lionel - with a chuckle more like a tease. "You guys are really close." The table began to laugh at Lionel's retort.

"No." I play with the fork that was set near me. "She is not like that, and I am not like that."

"True." Lionel agreed, knowing I was once a nerd. "You look more... more like you were around."

"Enough of me." I cut off with a cough, making my mom cover my mouth. "How is Holmes Chapel?"

After awhile, my mom kicked me out of the dining table with my access amount of coughing. I sat pretty lonely in my kitchen counter, sniffing and cough every now and then.
