April was once again preparing for volleyball.
"Hey, April. Surprise, surprise, you're not a sub," says Orelya.
"I did bad," replies April.
"All of us did bad, we're Navio. And we're against Cangrejo, so who cares?"
"Yeah. I'll try to do better this time. Actually, we could still win this... Well, my mom's probably gonna be upset if we end up fourth."
"To your positions!" shouts Mrs. Greene.
Once again, Orelya was in the first position, looking ready to serve first.
"Team captains," shouts Mrs. Greene. At once, Kira and Fredi of the Cangrejo team went to the scorer's table.
"Cangrejo first," announces Mrs. Greene after the coin flip.
On the Cangrejo side, there was the first server, Rayne.
Although she wasn't as good as Ykielle, she certainly was good enough to powerfully get the ball over the net. Kira quickly returns the ball.
They rally on.
1-3.
As expected, we're losing...
Jean was serving.
On the Cangrejo side, Fredi was the first to make a touch, followed by Rayne, and finally, Sadrine spikes it over. Kira tries returning the ball, but unintentionally punches the ball towards the net instead, and it bounces off. Jean passes, and Orelya spikes.
Happy Navio day.
6-11.
If only we had three more points.
10-16.
April was serving.
Goddammit, trying to serve while you've got your periods sucks.
April tosses the ball up, and as she tries to hit it over the net, she misses.
"Oof," says Martyn in the audience.
"Little does anyone know, April had her foot a millimetre on the line," says Ysobel. "It's hard to believe Mr. Bass caught her the first time."
Yep.
16-22.
Cangrejo has a 6-point lead, and that's expected.
Rayne was serving.
"Get ready to move," says Jean.
Rayne serves, and the ball flies towards April, who digs. Kira passes to Jean, who spikes, landing the ball on the Cangrejo side.
When was the last time I touched the ball?
18-24.
"G-G," shouts Martyn in the audience.
"Praise be to Navio," says Ann, walking near the volleyball court. "Thinking about it, April, I actually, legitimately, want you dudes to win."
"Seriously?" responds April. "But why?"
"If I'm cheering for one team of two teams I equally hate, that only means I hate the other team more!"
"Why do you hate Cangrejo? Do you hate Vick? DO YOU HATE FRAN—"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" shouts Ann. "I dislike Cangrejo 'cuz they're our competitors for top spot overall. That's it."
"Oh."
"Well, it's perfectly fine if you don't beat these dudes. This is just the battle for third, anyway, and I'm sure to beat Cangrejo in football... If Jorge'll even let me play."
"Yeah, you go, girl," says April.
"Switch courts!" says Mrs. Greene. "Time for Set 2, everyone!"
