Chapter 5

Xukun's POV

"Guys, did you find her?" I ask my friends while sitting comfortably on the couch in my room.

"Do you think it's easy to find a person like that?! We only know her mother's name and her mother's handwriting!" Yanjun yells back a bit too loud.

"Shhh...they can hear you," I tell him and he sits down on my bed next to Ziyi. "Besides, we also know her age and the color of her eyes," I add smiling at him.

"No, like literally, we have nothing," says black-haired boy disappointed. I'm supposed to be the one upset here. "Don't you have more information? You know I'm not a spy and I don't work for FBI. I can only hack computers and take information from girls...you know what I mean," adds Yanjun and I roll my eyes. "Whatever..."

"It's been already a month since I'm here and we still have nothing," I say to myself but loud enough for them to hear. "Yeah, but maybe if you haven't been focused on your romance we would have found something," says Ziyi as Yanjun hit his arm.

Really guys?

"It's nothing you know, there is no romance. Anyway I need to show up in the company so they won't suspect anything," I explain myself as I shake my head.

"Yeah, yeah...we know that you enjoy it there so stop lying," says the gray-haired in victorious tone. "Oh jizas, let it go!" I yell a bit frustrated. It's not what they think it is. I don't like her in this way. I just really like to tease her. It's quite funny when she gets angry with me, like two weeks ago when I stole her water from her hands.

I smile at the memory. "Mrs. Fan are you here?!" someone's voice snaps me back to reality and I look at the boys confused. They shrug their shoulders and I go out of my room to check what's going on.

"What's happening?" I hear Qinjia's voice somewhere behind me and I turn around. "I don't know," I answer truthfully and go downstairs with Qinjia following behind me.

"I need your help, Mrs. Fan! Something is wrong with Lili! She's so pale and she's sweating I need to take her to the hospital but I can't leave Luxia and Dawei alone," says a woman holding a small child in her hands. Next to her stand a boy and a girl. They can be four or six years old, maybe?

"Of course Mrs. Lu, I'll take you to the hospital and my kids will stay with them?" says my stepmom...Now I remember...Mrs. Lu is our charwoman. Her husband works abroad so she takes care of her children alone, that's why she always works when her kids are in kindergarten or whatever they attend to. She cleans the living room, kitchen and corridors but she doesn't tidy our rooms. We have to do this on our own and I'm actually okay with it. She could find something she shouldn't...

But wait...by my kids she means Qinjia, right?

"You can do this , right?" stepmom looks at us and I just wait for Qinjia's response. "I actually have plans already, I'm sorry, but Xukun is free, right? And his friends can help him... " says my stepsister and I widen my eyes. What?

"Oh Xukun can you really do this?" they all look at me with eyes full of hope and I just can't say no. I'm not heartless. I nod my head and fake a smile. They sigh out of relief as they make their way out leaving me with Qinjia and two small kids.

"Good luck," says my sister as she pats my shoulder. "Wait, where are you going anyway?" I ask curious. "To the mall with Nana and Milan," she answers as she gives me a smile turning around to leave. "Bye and bye kids!" she yells before closing the door behind her.

"Hey bro what's going-" I hear Yanjun behind me and I turn around to him. "What?" he asks as he points at the kids. "I have to take care of them," I answer simply as I hear Ziyi chuckling behind him.
