Nana's POV

"MY DAUGHTER? FUNNY! I AM NOT NANA'S FATHER, YOU'RE NOT HER MOTHER AND YOU KNOW THAT!"

What?

"IT'S OUR DAUGHTER! WE RAISED HER!" my mom yells back and I just stand there confused. I can feel tears running down my cheeks and I don't put any effort to wipe them away. I just let them fall.

"IT'S YOUR DEAD SISTER'S DAUGHTER! AND HER FATHER IS A RANDOM FOREIGNER WHO JUST LEFT THEM!"

Every word flies through me like darts. Is it some kind of a joke?

"What? Zhengting did you hear that?" says Justin surprised by the news. "Hey Zhengting how come you're not shocked?" he adds and I look up at them.

My older brother stares at me with sadness in his eyes. The emotion of pity is written all over his face.

Why aren't you shocked?

No way...

"Because he knew...He knew everything from the beginning, right?" I laugh bitterly slowly stepping back. I can't believe he's been lying all this time...

"Nana, wait," he says softly as he tries to catch my hand but I quickly takes it away moving back faster than before.

"No...so my real mother is auntie Mei?" I ask him as he stops in his tracks and nods his head in response. Auntie Mei is the only option. She is the only sister...and the only one dead. "And my blue eyes...it's not because our parent's are mixed race...because dad isn't mixed, right? It was a lie so I wouldn't suspect anything..."

"Dad!" I yell happily as he comes back from work. I jump in his arms and hug him tight. I look into his eyes and start to wonder about my today's biology lessons.

"Dad, today in school I have learnt about the inheritance of features and how is it possible that I have blue eyes, while yours are brown? And mom's are also brown but her mother's are blue so she probably has the gene in her but how about you?" I ask him curious. I've been wondering all they about it and I still have no idea.

"Maybe because...your grandgrandfather had blue and he gave it to your grandma and she gave it to me and I gave it to you...it's possible this way, right?" he answers and I think for a bit. It's actually possible...

"So you're just very lucky...no no no...you're special," he says as he pats my head smiling at me. I grin to myself as I hear the word 'special'. I think that's my new favourite word.

"Right, thanks dad."

I start to cry harder as this memory flies through my mind. That was a simple lie and I bought it right away. I knew grandma and grandpa don't have blue eyes so he told me that my grandgrandparents had so I wouldn't check it. All their photos are black and white and I have never seen them in person because they had been dead already when I was born.

"Nana-" Zhengting starts as he makes another attempt to catch me.

"No! Leave me alone!" I yell as I run away not wanting to face anyone. I just want to be alone for a while. I don't want them to tell me that it's going to be okay and all this stuff. I don't want their pity.

Xukun's POV

I can't believe what I've just heard. I watch as Nana tears up and discovers everything step by step. I don't even know what is more shocking...that Nana connects facts so quickly or that everything she says is the truth. The long hidden truth.
