Chapter 13

Chengcheng's POV

"Chengcheng," my dad calls me as I'm about walk out of his office with the girls, after watching the MV. "Can I talk to you, please?"

"Yes, of course, dad," I answer as I close the door behind my little sisters and turn my full attention to him. "What is it?"

"I just wanted to ask you...are you okay with Xukun?...I mean I know you had an argument few days ago and I just wanted to know if it is good now between you two now" he asks and I don't know what to say. Should I say the truth or should I lie...or something between?

"I know it's hard for you that some random dude suddenly appeared out of nowhere claiming that he's your brother...but there's a reason behind it. I just want you to be understanding for him and please don't see him as a rival or an enemy. He's a really good kid but a bit lost now," my dad's continues as he hadn't got any response from me. Very good kid...
"I know you need a lot of time to do this...but try to see him as a brother...or a friend at least. Can you do this for me?" he adds and I'm speechless again.

I don't even know what should I think about it. Am I angry? Sad? Disappointed? Maybe all?

"I'll try, dad," I lie as I give him a small fake smile before turning away and leave his room.

Why everyone's taking his side?

I walk trough the corridors but I stop as I hear the familiar voice.

"Like you've already noticed something's missing and I think I've got an idea what," says the girl and I follow the voice. I find the source and watch the scene through the open door.

Nana works with the launchpad adding new small beats and sounds to the music.

This scene looks oddly familiar...

No wonder why my dad wants her as a soloist. She'll make a great music in the future. I observe as Xukun's stares at the girl with admiration. Do you really like her, Xukun? Or you're just playing?

Of course it's just an act...he's not capable of such feelings. And since I told him to stay away and he hasn't obey...it's clear that he takes it as a competition.

Nana finishes and Xukun gets up from his seat.

"You're a genius!" he screams as he hugs her tight. Are you kidding me Xukun? That's it.

"Nana!" I yell as Xukun backs away and run up to her. She looks at me a bit surprised but smiles anyway. This is the time for me to make a move.

Nana's POV

I walk back from Mr Fan's office after watching the MV. I'm glad that everyone likes it. I'm so happy that I finally got the chance and I can't wait to see it on the Internet. Like someone once said to me...step by step to the goal.

Suddenly, I hear the music playing. I automatically stop in my tracks and follow the sound out of curiousity. The beat is great but there's something wrong.

I find myself in front of the closed door and slightly open it revealing Xukun siting on the black chair. He sighs as he runs his hands through his blond hair and looks at the ceiling looking for an inspiration.

"Chengcheng? Is something wrong?" I ask as I see him lying on the floor in the recording room with his hands covering his eyes.

"I can't Nana...something is wrong with this and I don't know what. I've been trying to make the melody on my own but I think I failed miserably," he answers and I chuckle a little by his dramatic behaviour.
