I awoke the next morning to another shouting match between my mom and Beth.

Ever since my mom and dad confirmed their divorce, Beth started acting out way more then she ever had before. Obviously she wasn't particularly happy about their decision.

I looked over at my clock and realized it was only seven. I got up and threw some sweats on before making my way downstairs.

"... But, she started it, mom." Beth defended.

"I don't care, Beth, you broke that girls nose!"

I walked past them to the fridge as they continued their argument, grabbing a Red Bull and leaning against the counter.

"Why don't you dig into Skylar, she goes to bars and sleeps around." Beth said, pointing at me.

"Hey, leave me outta this." I responded before my mom could answer.

"She's an adult, Beth! Plus, she doesn't go around breaking people's noses!"

"I'm an adult to, mom!"

"I don't care!"

"Whatever! I'm outta here!" She yelled before storming off to her room.

"This isn't over, young lady!" My mom shouted back.

My mom sat at the table and I took the seat across from her.

"I talked to Mr. Wilkes when I got there, he said the girl had it coming." I lied, I wasn't really sure what happened.

My mom shot me a look. "Well, that doesn't excuse her actions."

"I know, just maybe give her some space, she's been a little off lately." I said.

"Why?"

I let out a little sigh. "This divorce is hitting her pretty hard. Hell, it's hitting all of us pretty hard."

She sighed in return. "I know... I'll give her some time to cool down, but she's still grounded."

"Hey, fair enough, mom." I said, raising my hands in fake surrender.

"Speaking of, your fathers stopping by later."

I rolled my eyes. "Well, tell him I said hi."

"Where are you going?"

"Twist, you two ruined my day yesterday." I said, even though I still had Rebecca on my mind.

I'm actually kinda glad she asked me to pick Beth up, but I wasn't gonna tell her that.

"Alright, I'll see you later then?"

"Sure thing, mom. See you later."

I finished off my Red Bull and ran back upstairs to shower and dress for the day.

I threw on a pair of black skinny jeans, an AC/DC t-shirt, my leather jacket and my nicely worn Frye boots.

After a quick look in the mirror, I was out the door, hopping in my car...

I drove down the street towards Twist when I saw a familiar figure walking down the sidewalk.

I slowed down in front of her and rolled down the window. "What's up, stranger?"

"Oh hey, how's it going?" Came Rebecca's reply.

"Better now." I replied with a wink.

She laughed as she walked up to my car.
