"Get up, assholes!" I shouted through Beth and Stephanie's door.

"Screw you!" Came Beth's reply.

"You're gonna be late for the hiking trip!"

"Go without us!"

"Fine, your loss!" I finished as I made my way back towards the living room.

As I entered, Rebecca, Jen, and Wendy stood there waiting.

"Where's Blake?" I asked.

"Staying behind, something about young love. She was pretty hammered." Wendy replied.

"What about Beth and Stephanie?" Rebecca asked.

"Still sleeping." I replied.

Everyone nodded as we realized it would be just the two couples.

"Looks like it's gonna be a four way." Wendy replied with a laugh, clearly pleased with her joke.

We shook our heads as we made our way out the door, I grabbed my bag before closing it behind us...

We were currently making our way through the woods on the narrow hiking path. Rebecca and I walked next to each other, Wendy and Jen walking ahead of us.

"Where are we going again?" I asked.

"A cave." Wendy replied.

"Like a cave, cave?" Rebecca asked.

"Kinda sorta, it's not huge. My grandpa used to take me up here when I was a kid."

A sad silence passed through the group as Jen placed a comforting arm around Wendy's shoulder. The silence stayed with us until we reached our destination.

"It should be right through here." Wendy said as she moved some branches out of her way, revealing a small clearing in front of an opening in the side of the mountain. A few rocks sat around a makeshift fireplace.

Everyone took a quick look around before Rebecca and I made our way to the cave and walked inside.

She ran her hands across the wall as we walked further in.

"What's inside here?" Her echoing voice asked Wendy, who was standing at the entrance.

"No clue, we never went to far in."

"Well, there's no way in hell you're getting me any further in." I said, stopping in my tracks.

Rebecca raised her eyebrows in amusement. "What? Scared of the dark?"

"No... I've just seen enough movies to know how this ends."

She chuckled as she backtracked towards me. "Fine, we don't have to go into the scary cave if you don't want to."

I rolled my eyes. "Thanks..."

She leaned in, planting a quick pec on my nose. We giggled to ourselves as we made our way out.

I stopped, though, as I noticed something carved into the cave wall. Rebecca noticed as well and walked up behind me to read it.

It read: "Wendy and Grandpa Teddy, 1998."

We shared a sad glance before making our way out of the cave.

The sun was already starting to go down as Wendy and Jen started a fire. We all sat on the rocks around it.

"S'mores anyone?" Wendy asked, opening her back pack and pulling out the supplies.

"I'll have one." Rebecca said.
