I pulled into the diner parking lot before making my way through the front doors. I took my usual seat at the back booth and waited for Rebecca to make her way over.

When she did, I stood and greeted her. "Hey, cutie."

She smiled. "That's a new one."

"Well, what can I say, I have a thing for girls in uniforms." I said with a wink.

She rolled her eyes as I planted a quick kiss on her nose.

She pulled out her pen and pad. "What'll it be?"

   "The usual."

"Ok, I'll be right back with your order." She said before turning around to leave.

But, I stopped her. "Wait a second, I have a question."

   "What's up?"

   "Do you kn-"

"Lets get a move on, we have lots of customers to serve!" The manager shouted from the back.

I shot him an evil glare and he threw his arms up in fake surrender before making his way into the back.

I looked back at Rebecca who was now giggling.

"Anyway, back to what I was saying. Do you know that boy Steve my sister's dating?"

   "Sort of, why?"

"I'm getting a bad vide from him, what do you know about him?"

"Well, he's the star quarterback, he's popular and from what I hear from the other girls he's dated, he's got quite a temper."

   "What kinda temper?"

"Well, supposedly he got in a fist fight his coach at his old school and he got expelled for punching out the principal."

   "Man or woman?"

   "I'm not sure, why?"

"Well, Stephanie was telling me she's been acting weird since she started dating Steve, then last night they went to her room to get something and she came back rubbing her arm, said she bumped it on her dresser."

She nodded. "Well, I can keep an eye on them at school for you."

"Thanks, I'd really appreciate it. If this guy really is bad news then I wanna know about it, so I can knock some sense into that little shit."

She chuckled. "That I'd love to see."

"Excuse me miss, we've been waiting on our order for a while now." A lady from behind her interrupted.

"Sorry, I'll be right with you, miss."

She turned to me and gave me an apologetic smile before returning to the back...

I finished my food and waited for Rebecca to return with the bill. Eventually, she made it to my table.

   "That'll be $11.24 ma'am." She said with a smirk.

I dropped a twenty on the table and got up to leave.

"Keep the change, sweet cheeks." I replied with a wink as I made my way out the doors and to my car...

I was on my way to Twist when my phone started ringing.

I picked it up and saw my moms number flashing on the screen. "What's up, mom?"

"Hey honey, I have to stay late at work today, could you pick your sister up from school?"

"I thought school was done for today?"
