It's been a few months since our first date and Rebecca and I were stronger than ever. We'd go on dates every weekend, hang out at Twist and make everyone jealous with how hot we were together.I parked my car outside her house and made my way to her front door.
I knocked, giddily awaiting her presence.
Even though we've been dating for a few months now I haven't quite gotten used to the effect she had on me. It's like my heart was ready to jump out of my chest at the sight of her. It was the best feeling I've ever had and I wasn't ready to give that up, not in a million years.
"Miss Valentine?" Came her moms voice.
Shit. "Oh, hey miss June, how's it been?"
She leveled a deadly glare at me. "Why are you here?"
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Oh, uh... Beth's having a party, I'm um... picking up some of her friends."
She just looked at me and I looked back nervously. She was about to speak when Rebecca came running out.
"See you later, mom." She said before kissing her on the cheek and making her way towards the car.
I smiled and waved to miss June, but she just crossed her arms and watched us leave...
We were on our way to Twist when I looked over at Rebecca. "You didn't tell her?"
She let out a heavy sigh. "Well, no, but every time I bring you up she goes into this long rant about how you and Beth are bad kids and all that."
"Do you believe her?"
She shook her head. "Of course not, you know that. It's just..."
I sighed. "I get it."
She slid her hand in mine and gave me a reassuring smile. "I'll tell her, just... not yet."
I looked over and gave her a small smile.
I can't say I blamed her, Beth and I didn't have the best reputations around our small town. My dad had a sketchy past and all the trouble that seemed to follow us didn't help much either.
We pulled into Twist's parking lot and got out before pushing through the front doors.
We took our usual seats next to Wendy, who was deep in conversation with Blake. They seemed to quiet down when we sat.
I knew all to well what that was about.
I shook my head. "I don't want a birthday party, guys."
"Dammit, how do you do that?" Wendy asked.
"When's your birthday?" Rebecca asked.
"Saturday." Blake replied.
"We have to throw you a party." Rebecca added.
I groaned.
"Please?" Rebecca asked, throwing on her best puppy dog eyes.
I looked at my friends and realized they had the same look.
I gave Rebecca a disappointed look. "Fine... but only because I like you."
"Yay! I have to start planning." Wendy squealed.
I sighed. "I'm gonna need some alcohol, and lots of it."
They all laughed as Blake slid a beer my way...
Eventually, Rebecca got up to use the restroom, planting a kiss on my cheek before disappearing.
