Elana P.O.V

I woke up before my alarm could. I walked out onto the balcony with a cigarette. I needed one before going to school. I smoked and watched as the sun slowly started to rise. The air was a little cool but it felt good on my skin. As I smoked my cigarette Tristen came out onto the patio. She just freshly woken and was still wiping her eyes.

Tristen: When will you ever learn?

Elana: I guess never because this cigarette is still in my hand.

Tristen: You are seriously psychotic. The old Elana wouldn’t dare pick up a cigarette.

Elana: The old Elana wouldn’t have smoked a cigarette in front her boyfriend either. She wouldn’t be blind right now and she wouldn’t be living here. The older Elana would have been dead by now or beaten half to death. She would have been raped and probably drowned. *tears up and puts out cigarette* there isn’t an old Elana. This is Elana. A cold hearted bitch that doesn’t care about nobody, smokes, drinks, insecure, lost, and has trust issues. She has so many problems not even Dr. Drew could solve it. *tears streams down cheeks and goes in side to get ready*

My cheeks were hot and I was fuming. I grabbed my clothes and put them on. I wore this: http://www.polyvore.com/black_white/set?id=43741735 After I finished getting dressed, I ate a bowl of cereal and waited for Tristen to put on her make up. The chauffeur waited patiently outside and drove us to school. We got out the car and entered campus.

~~2nd period~~

Tristen and I were walking in the hall. We were one of the last few still there because I refused to go to 2nd period. Diggy is in that period and I’m going to need a cigarette dealing with him. Tristen wants me to stop so badly and she already apologized this morning. It’s not her fault though. We walked in before the bell rang and took our normal seats. Diggy sat towards the back, Iris a few seats by the bulletin board on the other side of the room, Tristen a row and a few seats back from me, and I sat by the window close to the front. I looked around and caught Diggy eyeing me. His eyes showed a confused an expression. I looked at Tristen and glanced back towards the board. After a few minutes in class, something got in my eye. I removed my glasses and put them in my purse. I wasn’t thinking. After getting the item out of my eye, I tried to find my glasses that were in my purse. Since I’m blind that was the hardest task in the world. The teacher turned off the lights and turned on the projector. I squinted and dug through my bag fiercely. I NEED my glasses because without them I have no idea what is going on. I guess I was causing lots of racket because the teacher turned on the light and told me to answer a question.

Teacher: Were you paying attention Elana?

Elana: I can’t see

Teacher: What student hasn’t come up with that a lie like that before? *sarcastic*

Elana: No I can’t see…

Teacher: *goes to files* Elana you have perfect eye vision. So---*student knocks over some heavy books that hit the book case*

I have no idea what happened but I all of a sudden can’t hear anymore. This isn’t going to work especially if he about to start hollering at me. I’m about to get suspended for no reason. Whoever slipped me that pill should be beaten with a branch a bunch of times.

Teacher: Elana

Elana: *silent*

Teacher: I know you hear me. Don’t squint your eyes and look at me clueless. *frustrated*

Tristen: Dude, she is blind!!!!

Teacher: I know that’s your best friend but don’t take up in her lies. But I will call a nurse to come check her out if you are telling the truth. *dials nurse office and nurse comes in after a small conversation*

Nurse: Is this the student? *points at Elana*

Teacher: Yes

Nurse: *goes over and tries to talk but Elana remains silent and lost* Hello? Elana sweetie can you hear me?

Elana: *silent*

Nurse: *lifts Elana head and shines a light in her eyes* yeah she is blind. She can’t see you that well. It’s probably really blurry.

Tristen: The doctor prescribed her glasses but she must have taken them off.  *gets up and goes to Elana*Elana where is your glasses?

Elana: *silent and starts to feel around Tristen face to see who it is then feels around floor for glasses*

Tristen: *goes through Elana purse and finds glasses and puts them on her*

Elana: *looks and smiles sort of then writes* I can’t hear you…I think the pill has another affect to it.

Tristen: She can’t hear us either. *dials doctor number and he answers* Hey we’re the clients you saw yesterday and instead of Elana just not able to see she can’t hear either.

Doctor: Was their something loud that fell or is her ear bleeding?

Tristen: Some books fell down…

Doctor: Okay this is what you do. Remain quiet for 5 minutes and she would be able to hear again.

Tristen: Okay *hangs up* we have to be quiet for 5 minutes in order for her to hear again

Teacher: Alright class get out a chapter book and read.
