Elana P.O.V

I paced the room as the sun started to set. His hurtful words sunk in my body heavily. I was tired of everything. These stupid flashbacks I keep having and my crazy moods. It needs to end. I looked at the balcony and went outside. I saw that there was a lower deck of roof I could climb on. I’m going to jump. I’m going to jump. No more misery for me. The house is high enough. I looked down and tears flew from my eyes. No more of this. I put my foot on top of the banister rose my self up. I had my life in my own hands. All I had to do was lean forward and boom no more Elana Audrey Jones. I tilted forward a little, my balance becoming unsteady. I was ready.

Diggy: You’re her aunt?

Woman: Yes.

Diggy: She never said anything about you.

Woman: That’s because she just found out…right now.

Diggy: Oh, and look at me making it worse. I should go jump off a building

Woman: *lightly giggles* don’t be hard on yourself kid. We all do things and say things that can hurt people.

Diggy: I know but I yelled at her and said all that mean stuff. She is never going to forgive me.

Woman: Knowing little one; she will.

Diggy: Why do you call her little one?

Woman: She was so small and petite when she was younger. She was like a teddy bear. She always made you feel safe even when you knew you weren’t. I know she seems crazy now and so moody; psycho like. But she didn’t have a normal child hood. She was born at the wrong time.

Diggy: *sits on couch* what was her childhood like?

Woman: Something that can give a little girl nightmares. Her mom was on drugs when Elana was still old enough to be in pampers. My mom couldn’t stand Teresa. Teresa wasn’t girly like me or dressed pretty like me. Teresa was just a tomboy but a little girly. She hanged out with this boy name Joseph. She liked Joseph…a lot. She was his crush all through out high school. Joseph and Teresa were best friends until he got a deal with his boys. She lost contact with him after awhile and felt abandoned. She started to act out and become bad. She graduated high school but partied hard through out college. When she came back, she was changed. My mom and she got into arguments constantly. My sister had gotten pregnant. My mom was really upset about that but she had Elana. She wasn’t on drugs at the time but when Elana was at our mom’s; she would get wasted and high. By that time I had met my abusive boyfriend who wasn’t abusive yet. Teresa made me take care of Elana while she was in rehab because she thought I could make something good out of her. But by that time, he had already started beating and forcing me to do things. But I took her in anyway to keep her out of foster care.

Diggy: Wow…I feel like I could’ve handled the situation better if she told me this.

Woman: She’s not ready.  Please don’t judge her.

Diggy: I never will do that. I love her too much.

Woman: Are you that Daniel kid?

Diggy: Yeah…

Woman: I’ve heard a lot about you. You’re quite the superhero. I know that was one of the reasons why she made you come to Pennsylvania.

Diggy: *smiles* thank you *hears a noise* I wonder what that was…

Woman: Who knows, probably little kids playing in driveways and things. You should check on Elana. *turns on TV*

Diggy: Okay

I jogged upstairs to Elana’s room. I opened the door and looked around. I checked her bathroom and she wasn’t there. I looked at balcony door that opened. I walked towards it and looked out. She wasn’t there.  I closed the balcony door and sat on the bed. I was puzzled to where she could be.
