YOUR LUNGS WERE about to collapse, yet you were nowhere near safety. You were on your way home back from your tutoring session when a group of guys suddenly started following you, leading into a wild goose chase around the dark, unfamiliar alleyways.
Hot tears were spilling from your eyes. Every turn you make is a heart-stopping moment, with you crossing your fingers as you pray that you don't come face to face with a dead end. It was useless to cry for help, since you had managed to run into the deepest parts of the alleys, where no one would hear your desperate yells.
Anybody... please... you thought, your knees starting to weaken. Anytime soon you'd officially run out of oxygen, probably die as well from both oxygen-deprivation and from... whatever the group of guys will do to you once they caught up.
"Psst! Over here," a voice called. You spin your head around frantically, trying to locate where the source of that voice came from.
You turned to your right to see a pair of glowing amber eyes staring back at you. With no hesitation, you ran towards the stranger and sighed deeply.
You took your time to look at the person. He was unbelievably tall, with unruly light yellow hair that reached past his shoulders. Scars were imprinted across his chest, tempting you to touch them.
Your heart burst in joy. You knew this boy standing in front of your trembling body. Osoro Shidesu, the leader of the delinquents in your school. Although you didn't know what he was like, you still felt safe, seeing that you're with someone you know.
"Osoro, I-"
"Shh, we've got to get out of here right now." He said in a quiet tone, his eyes scanning the area cautiously. Without a doubt, the group of men already lost you, running off to another part of the alleys, searching for you.
Osoro grabbed ahold of your wrist firmly as he navigated both of you out, and far away from them.
He seems to know the whole place like the back of his hands, you thought. He glanced at you a couple of times, leading you to feel self conscious about everything that's happened.
The two of you reached a rusty, rundown gate, the smell of garbage and rust makes you feel somewhat nauseous. You hold your breath as Osoro continues to pick the locks preventing you to break free.
Osoro glanced at you momentarily and returned to working on the latch. "So," he began, catching your attention. "What brings a girl like you in a place like this?"
You look down, unsure of what to say. "It's a long story,"
"Hmm," the delinquent grunted in response. The lock broke free from the gate, falling onto the ground with a loud clink. Osoro kicked it open and revealed towering buildings before your eyes. The sun has completely disappeared, leaving the moon and thousands of stars decorate the dark blue sky.
You turned to face the rebel with a smile. You bowed in front of him, tears streaming down your sooted cheeks.
"Thank you, so much!" You say through sobs. You witnessed as Osoro's intimidating amber eyes turn into warm ones for a second, catching you off guard.
Osoro scratched the back of his head, averting his gaze from you. "No problem, I guess."
The two of you were silent for a while, staring at each other and averting gazes over and over again. The awkward silence between the two of you was almost painful to bear. The delinquent seems to have caught on with how things are and started to leave.
